Agronomy Consultant/Sales
Job Description
Duties
Duties include but are not limited to the following:
Sales and Business Development
- Identify potential customers and cultivate new business opportunities within the assigned territory or customer base.
- Conduct sales presentations, product demonstrations, and discussions with customers to understand their needs and offer appropriate solutions.
- Collaborate with the marketing team to develop and implement strategies to increase sales and achieve revenue targets.
- Provide ongoing support to existing clients, ensuring customer satisfaction, and maintaining long-term relationships.
Agronomic Expertise
- Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in agronomy, crop protection, and agricultural technologies.
- Offer technical advice, crop planning recommendations, and customized solutions based on clients' specific needs and agronomic conditions.
- Conduct farm and field visits to observe crop health, diagnose issues, and recommend suitable products and practices for optimal crop performance.
- Conduct training sessions, workshops, and informational events to educate customers about new products and best practices.
Product Knowledge and Representation
- Possess an in-depth understanding of the company's product portfolio, including fertilizers, crop protection chemicals, seeds, and other agricultural inputs.
- Provide accurate and detailed information about product features, benefits, and application methods to customers.
- Represent the company at trade shows, industry events, and customer meetings, showcasing products and services to prospective clients.
Market Intelligence
- Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and changes in agricultural regulations to identify opportunities and potential challenges.
- Gather and analyze data related to market demand, customer preferences, and sales performance to make informed business decisions.
Administrative Tasks
- Maintain detailed records of customer interactions, sales activities, and product inquiries.
- Prepare sales reports, forecasts, and other documentation as required by the management team.
- Lend assistance to operational team during peak times such as wheat harvest and agronomy rush.

Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Agronomy, Agriculture Science, Crop Science, or related field, or previous agronomy sales experience.
- Equivalent 1 to 3 years work experience, preferred
- Obtain and maintain CCA (Certified crop advisor status) recommended
Skills and abilities
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite required and ability to learn and utilize Ag software
- Strong knowledge of agronomic practices, crop production, and agricultural technologies
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build rapport with customers.
- Ability to understand and explain technical information to a non-technical audience.
- Self-motivated, results-oriented, and capable of working independently or as part of a team.
- Be able to adapt quickly in changing environments
- Work independently and exercise good judgement on behalf of the business
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to:
- Sit/stand/walk for extended periods of time
- Occasionally required to move/lift/carry up to 50 lbs.
