Reliability Engineering and Asset Care Leader
Job Description
Imagine starting your day on the shop floor—hearing a press cycle, noticing a gearbox hum that’s just a little off, and jumping in to diagnose it. By mid-morning, you’re mapping an OEE improvement plan for the lines you own. In the afternoon, you’re coaching techs through a SMED trial on a high-mix bingo line and finalizing a control plan to keep yesterday’s issue from coming back. That’s the rhythm of this player-coach role.
Arrow International is searching for a hands-on Maintenance and Reliability leader who can both turn a wrench and architect the systems that prevent repeat breakdowns. This is a high-visibility, high-impact opportunity to build the reliability function while staying close to the equipment and team.
What you’ll lead- Own OEE data collection, analysis, and the improvement roadmap for assigned lines.
- Drive changeover reduction via SMED across high-mix SKU families on bingo and pull-tab lines.
- Lead structured improvement projects (DMAIC/Kaizen) across print, die cutting, collating, and finishing work centers.
- Develop and document process standards, work instructions, and control plans.
- Identify automation opportunities based on labor intensity, error rates, and volume.
- Partner with Tom W. on controls integration to enable process improvements.
- Support configure-to-order process design for variable data and short-run workflows.
- 7+ years of maintenance experience in industrial/manufacturing settings, including 3+ years leading teams—and a strong preference for leaders who have remained hands-on throughout their career.
- Proven ability to craft a vision and roadmap, execute it, and deliver measurable outcomes.
- Deep mechanical skill set: hydraulics, pneumatics, power transmission, and precision alignment.
- Solid electrical capability: 480V three-phase systems, motor controls, PLCs, and control panel troubleshooting.
- History of building a preventive maintenance program from scratch or significantly overhauling one.
- Experience overseeing spare parts inventory and improving storeroom practices.
- Track record of mentoring technicians at the machine—coaching by doing, not only in a classroom.
- Strong root cause analysis and problem-solving discipline.
- Proficiency with CMMS platforms and Microsoft Office.
- Working knowledge of OSHA, LOTO, and general industrial safety requirements.
- PLC Troubleshooting Skills
- Creating Preventive Maintenance Plans
- Pneumatics Experience
- 120/208/240/480 Voltage Systems
- Motor Replacement/Repair/Maintenance
- Hydraulics Experience
- Kaizen
This isn’t a desk job. It’s a shop-floor leadership role for someone who can stabilize today’s operations and build the reliability systems that make tomorrow even better.
