New Horizons Montessori Academy is seeking a caring, dependable, and energetic Aftercare Teacher to join our Montessori community immediately. This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy working with children in a positive, nurturing environment and are looking to gain or expand their experience in early childhood education.
This position is available immediately through August 31, 2026, with the potential for continued employment during the school year.
Position Summary
Our Aftercare Teachers provide a safe, engaging, and welcoming environment for children at the end of the school day. Responsibilities include supervising play, assisting with daily routines, supporting smooth dismissals, and helping maintain a positive classroom atmosphere.
Responsibilities
Teacher Aide: $17–$19 per hour, depending on experience
Assistant Teacher: $19–$20 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications
Candidates with at least 2 years or 2,000 hours of professional childcare experience may qualify for Assistant Teacher placement and compensation.

Responsibilities
- Supervise and actively engage children during indoor and outdoor play
- Maintain proper staff-to-child ratios at all times
- Ensure the safety, well-being, and positive behavior of students
- Assist younger children with hygiene and daily routines as needed
- Help children gather belongings and prepare for dismissal
- Escort children to parents or authorized pickup individuals
- Provide brief and professional communication to families during pickup
- Assist with classroom organization and end-of-day closing procedures
- Follow all school policies, licensing requirements, and safety procedures
- Monday through Friday
- 1:00 PM–5:30 PM
- Additional hours may occasionally be available

Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- At least 1 year of childcare experience with children other than your own
- Reliable attendance and punctuality
- Eligible to work in the United States
- Ability to obtain and maintain all required clearances and health documentation
- 2+ years (or 2,000+ hours) of childcare experience
- Experience in a preschool, daycare, Montessori, or early childhood setting
- CDA, Early Childhood coursework, or related education
- Montessori experience (preferred but not required)
- FBI Fingerprinting
- Pennsylvania Child Abuse Clearance
- Pennsylvania Criminal Background Check
- Physical Examination and TB Screening
