Salary: $100,000–$118,000/year

About the Facility

We are seeking an experienced ER Manager – Registered Nurse to provide clinical and operational leadership within a 267-bed acute-care hospital serving the surrounding coastal communities.

The facility provides a broad range of advanced medical services, including emergency care, stroke services, cancer care, open-heart surgery, and treatment for critically ill patients. The Emergency Department is a 40-bed Level II Trauma Center serving a high-volume patient population.

Position Overview

The ER Manager will oversee the daily operations, staffing, and delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care within the Emergency Department.

This position provides clinical and operational leadership, monitors nursing care and patient outcomes, ensures compliance with hospital policies and regulatory standards, and promotes staff accountability and performance.

The manager will primarily oversee the night-shift team, with responsibility for staffing, scheduling, employee engagement, recruitment, retention, and day-to-day department operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee daily Emergency Department operations and nursing services.
  • Manage staffing, scheduling, and coverage for the night shift.
  • Ensure delivery of safe, high-quality, patient-centered emergency care.
  • Monitor clinical quality, patient outcomes, and departmental performance.
  • Recruit, interview, hire, onboard, and retain qualified nursing staff.
  • Address staffing shortages and operational challenges effectively.
  • Promote employee engagement, teamwork, accountability, and a positive work environment.
  • Ensure compliance with hospital policies, procedures, regulatory requirements, and clinical standards.
  • Support trauma and emergency care operations within a high-volume Emergency Department.
  • Collaborate with nursing and executive leadership, physicians, and other healthcare leaders.
  • Coach, mentor, and develop nursing staff.
  • Address employee performance concerns appropriately and consistently.
  • Help maintain efficient patient flow and effective utilization of department resources.
  • Participate in quality improvement and departmental initiatives as needed.
Required Qualifications
  • 2–3 years of recent acute-care Emergency Department management or supervisory experience.
  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the applicable state or active Compact RN license.
  • Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or RN Diploma required.
  • BSN preferred.
  • Strong leadership, staffing, communication, and decision-making skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams in a fast-paced emergency care environment.
  • Ability to work a primarily night/evening schedule.
Emergency Department

Certifications
  • BLS: Required
  • ACLS: Required
  • PALS: Required within 90 days of employment
  • Nonviolent Crisis Intervention: Required within 90 days of employment
  • TNCC: Required within 6 months of employment
Schedule

This is primarily a night-shift leadership position.

The current staffing need requires approximately 7:00 PM–7:00 AM, five nights per week. The schedule is expected to transition toward approximately 8–10-hour shifts, with potential start times ranging from 4:00 PM–7:00 PM as staffing needs normalize.
