We are currently searching for a Sr. Electro-Mechanical Technician to join our team. This role will be performed on-site and is based at our location in North Billerica, MA. Please note: There is no relocation offered for this role. The ideal candidate will currently reside in the Greater Boston area.
JOB SUMMARY
The Sr. Electro-Mechanical Technician is responsible for the fabrication, testing, and assembly of high-performance superconducting magnets used in various medical, scientific and industrial applications.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Fabricate and assemble superconducting magnets and components, including winding, welding, and testing of magnet coils.
- Operate and maintain various manufacturing equipment such as CNC machine, lathes, and winding machines.
- Independently perform assembly tasks and test functional performance of various systems, subassemblies, and components.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose technical issues with manufacturing processes and equipment.
- Maintain accurate documentation of all manufacturing processes and procedures.
- Interact with manufacturing engineers, technicians, and relevant personnel regarding build/test results and make recommendations to resolve problems.
- Identify discrepancies in requirements and work with manufacturing engineering to resolve them.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED
- Reports to Director of SSI.
- Role is performed on site only.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIREMENTS
- This position requires a strong background in manufacturing, process development, and quality control.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in manufacturing and assembly of superconducting magnets or related products.
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes and equipment such as vacuum processing, winding, brazing, and soldering.
- Proficient with types of electronics testing equipment such as ohm meters, power supplies, etc.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot technical issues.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and specifications.
- Experience with quality control testing and inspection techniques.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
