Join the YMCA City Center in Lancaster as a Red Cross Instructor and help participants build essential safety and first aid skills. In this part-time role, you'll lead engaging classes, demonstrate lifesaving techniques, and create a supportive learning environment for participants of all ages.Share your knowledge, passion for safety, and commitment to helping others while making a positive impact in the community.POSITION SUMMARY:Under the direction of the Aquatic Director, in cooperation with other YMCA staff, and consistent with the YMCA mission, the Red Cross Instructor is responsible for the instruction, leadership, supervision, control, and safety of all class participants. The instructor is responsible for the appearance, presentation, and working order of all materials and equipment used for American Red Cross course instruction. It is the instructor's responsibility to observe and direct all class participants, and to provide feedback and appropriate correction as instructed or included in the job description. This position is also responsible for identifying and responding appropriately to, customer and employee wants, needs, and expectations through caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility and responsible actions and interactions that contribute to the relationship between employees and the YMCA organization.OUR CULTURE:Our mission and core values are brought to life by our culture. Enhances YMCA of the Roses membership by demonstrating the Y core values.Cleans equipment and protects equipment to create a safe learning environment. Teaches all courses to the Red Cross standards, following all YMCA protocols. Follows reporting and signage procedure regarding broken or missing equipment/supplies. Maintain accurate attendance recordsWears appropriate and approved appropriate attire, therefore being easily identifiable by members Serves as a role model for other staff members by demonstrating exemplary job skills and behaviorAttends required staff meetings, educational workshops and certificationsMaintains certification by getting recertifiedCompletes additional duties as assigned by the Aquatics DirectorCoordinates with other instructors in the association for delivery of classes LEADERSHIP COMPETENCIES:RelationshipsCommunicationDeveloping Self & OthersCommunityQUALIFICATIONS:High school diploma or equivalentAt least 18 years of age Active American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor (LGI), CPR PRO Instructor and Oxygen Instructor certificationsAbility to work well with people and maintain a positive attitudeComplete the following within 1 month of hire:Required Aquatics Y TrainingsPraesidium Trainings completed AmTrust TrainingsWORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:Ability to demonstrate skillsAbility to instruct and observe health seekers with proper form and techniqueAbility to exert up to 25 pounds of force regularly and 45 pounds of force occasionallyAbility to Climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, stand, walk, push, pull, lift grasp, talk, make repetitive motions, see, and hear Obtain Criminal background check, Child Abuse Clearance, and FBI fingerprint clearance.
