Starting Pay:$25.00 per hour
The HR Onboarding Specialist serves as the central point of contact for new employees entering a unit-based kitchen operation. This position coordinates orientation, employment documentation, early training, mentor assignments, evaluations, uniforms, and onboarding records.
Schedule, facilitate, and document new-hire orientation sessions, including four-to-five-hour presentations.
Explain workplace policies, procedures, expectations, and available resources.
Conduct kitchen and work-area tours and introduce new employees to key staff and management.
Submit and maintain orientation documentation with a high level of accuracy.
Administer Form I-9 procedures and employment verification in accordance with company requirements.
Enter new employees into the HR software and maintain accurate records, including direct deposit information when applicable.
Assign mentors, document follow-up, and ensure first two weeks of training assignments are completed.
Coordinate new-hire and probationary evaluations and support the employee assessment program.
Order, distribute, and maintain employee uniforms and inventory.
Work with the HR Manager, Senior HR Manager, Unit General Manager, and Operations management.
Provide professional customer service to new hires and communicate effectively with all levels of staff.
Protect confidential information, promptly correct errors, and perform other duties as assigned.
Experience in human resources, onboarding, training, staffing, organizational development, or business administration.
Familiarity with Form I-9 procedures, employment verification, HR software, or applicant tracking systems preferred.
Staffing-agency mass-hiring experience is a plus. Airline, commercial kitchen, food-service, or labor and union environment experience is also a plus.
Strong written and verbal communication skills; fluent English communication required.
Ability to work respectfully in a culturally diverse environment and communicate with frontline employees through senior management.
Strong organization, patience, attention to detail, and sound judgment.
Ability to use Windows and Microsoft Office applications for documentation and data entry.
PHR certification and Taleo or other ATS experience are a plus.
Must be able to remain in a stationary position for extended periods while facilitating orientation, completing records, and operating a computer.
Needs to occasionally move about inside the office, kitchen, and work areas to conduct tours, access equipment, and assist new employees.
Position regularly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery such as a copier, printer, calculator, and telephone.
Frequently communicates with employees and management and must be able to exchange accurate information.
Must be able to detect and correct errors in onboarding records and identify missing documentation.
Must be able to position self to organize and distribute uniforms and onboarding materials weighing up to 25 pounds.
Works primarily indoors in an office and unit-based kitchen environment and shares workspace with employees, supervisors, and management. May be exposed to kitchen equipment, cleaning products, active food-service operations, and distracting or uncomfortable noise. May occasionally work near hot or cold areas, bright or dim lighting, and workspaces that are not consistently temperature-controlled. Must follow applicable safety, sanitation, and protective-equipment requirements.
ScheduleMonday through Friday, 10:00 AM to 6:30 PM. The schedule may vary and includes approximately 25% off-shift work. Overtime may be available based on operational needs and management approval.
