ERP Business Analyst
Job Description
Position Summary We are seeking a hands-on, experienced ERP Business Analyst to serve as the critical bridge between our business users and development team for Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central. Based onsite in the Greater Chicago Area, this role supports our discrete manufacturing operations and takes ownership of an integrated stack spanning Business Central, Zoho CRM, Octagon CPQ, and third-party tools. You will support end users, manage the complete lead-to-cash business cycle, and drive system requirements. Additionally, as our company grows through acquisitions, you will lead the end-to-end migration of newly acquired entities onto our standard software stack using established playbooks.
Compensation & Location
- Salary: $80,000 – $95,000 annually
- Work Location: Onsite in the Greater Chicago Area
Key Responsibilities
- User Support & System Administration: Deliver day-to-day troubleshooting and guidance across manufacturing, warehousing, inventory, finance, and sales. Administer basic configurations, manage user permissions, update workflows, and deliver module training.
- Requirements & Process Engineering: Work closely with Business Process Owners (BPOs) to surface operational needs, identify automation opportunities, and translate business use cases into clear functional specifications for developers.
- Integration & Business Cycle Management: Maintain data integrity across systems (Zoho CRM, Octagon CPQ, Jira). Trace cross-platform data flows to root cause, define API integration requirements, and maintain living system architecture documentation.
- Acquisition Migrations: Manage M&A system integrations from legacy platforms onto Business Central, Zoho, and Octagon. Conduct data mapping, bridge process gaps, train acquired personnel, and refine migration playbooks after each project.
- Testing & Quality Assurance: Design test plans, partner with BPOs to build test cases, coordinate User Acceptance Testing (UAT) through formal sign-off, and track defects through resolution.
- Governance & Project Management: Maintain comprehensive technical documentation, track ERP KPIs, facilitate cross-functional alignment meetings, and hold both internal teams and external vendor developers accountable to timelines.
Required Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum 5 years as a D365 Business Central Business Analyst within discrete manufacturing, gained via an end-user company or implementation partner/VAR.
- Domain Knowledge: Strong practical understanding of core Business Central modules alongside full lead-to-cash process flows in integrated environments.
- Technical Communication: Excellent ability to converse comfortably with non-technical operational teams as well as technical dev resources.
- Quality Assurance: Proven background in creating structured test plans and managing end-to-end UAT cycles.
Preferred Qualifications
- Hands-on implementation, cutover planning, or multi-entity M&A migration experience across BC, Zoho CRM, or Octagon CPQ.
- Working knowledge of API-based integrations (REST/OData, webhooks) and BC data models/table structures (SQL, configuration packages).
- Exposure to reporting and automation tools such as Power BI, Jet Reports, or Power Platform.
- Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, or a related field.
