Summary: The Inventory Control Supervisor is responsible for overseeing inventory accuracy, transaction integrity, and inventory control processes within the warehouse and manufacturing operation. This role leads inventory personnel, coordinates cycle count programs, investigates inventory discrepancies, and ensures inventory records accurately reflect physical stock. The Inventory Control Supervisor collaborates with production, purchasing, logistics, and finance teams to maintain optimal inventory levels and support operational objectives. This position with report to the Materials Manager.


Essential Functions of the Job: The essential functions of this job require the person, with or without reasonable accommodations, to perform the following:

Inventory Management

  • Supervise daily inventory control activities and inventory personnel.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records within the ERP/WMS system.
  • Monitor inventory transactions including receipts, transfers, issues, returns, and adjustments.
  • Ensure compliance with inventory control procedures and company policies.
  • Review inventory levels and identify excess, obsolete, or slow-moving inventory.

Cycle Counting & Audits

  • Develop and manage cycle count schedules.
  • Conduct and oversee physical inventories and annual inventory audits.
  • Investigate inventory discrepancies and determine root causes.
  • Implement corrective actions to improve inventory accuracy.
  • Maintain inventory accuracy targets and reporting metrics.

Team Leadership(4-6people)

  • Train, coach, and develop inventory control staff.
  • Assign daily work priorities and monitor performance.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing feedback.
  • Promote a safe and productive work environment.

Process Improvement

  • Identify opportunities to improve inventory processes and warehouse efficiency.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives related to inventory accuracy and material flow.
  • Develop and document standard operating procedures (SOPs).

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with Purchasing, Production Planning, Manufacturing, Shipping, Receiving, and Finance teams.
  • Support inventory reconciliation and month-end closing activities.
  • Coordinate disposition of nonconforming, obsolete, or excess materials.
  • Assist with inventory forecasting and replenishment planning.


Recommended Education and/or Experience

Bachelors Degree in a related field; or minimum five years related experience; or combination of education and related experience.

1-3+ years of supervisory or leadership experience preferred.

Knowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.
