What You’ll Do

Responsibilities vary by client and care plan. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with medical limitations or disabilities to perform the essential responsibilities. Duties may include but are not limited to:

  • Companionship, conversation & emotional support

  • Personal care activities, including but not limited to:

    • Baths (sponge, tub, shower, and bed bath)

    • Oral hygiene

    • Basic skin care and grooming assistance

    • Toileting assistance

    • Transferring (bed to chair, wheelchair and shower, etc.)

    • Dressing and undressing

    • Change diaper/brief

    • Walking assistance

    • Medication reminders

    • Home exercise plan assistance

  • Assist with household tasks necessary to the client’s health care needs, including but not limited to:

    • Planning and preparing nutritious meals

    • Assisting in feeding client, as appropriate

    • Light housekeeping of client’s environment, including linens and making bed

    • Laundering client’s clothing and bedding

    • Assisting clients with shopping

    • Assisting clients with transportation for appointments

  • Use equipment and supplies safely

  • Document care activities in the client’s Care Plan Book daily

  • Report significant client changes to the office promptly

What We’re Looking For

Required:

  • High school diploma or educational equivalent

  • Prior caregiving experience — professional or personal (including caring for a family member)

  • Must be eligible to work in the United States

  • Must pass a criminal background check and drug screening before employment

  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record and current auto insurance

  • Reliable personal vehicle available for use during assignments

  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively

  • Flexible and adaptable — willing to work a variety of shifts and days, including evenings and overnights

  • Reliable, punctual, and professional — your client counts on you!

  • Genuine compassion for seniors and a desire to make a positive difference

  • Ability to treat every client with dignity, respect, and patience

Preferred:

  • Experience with Alzheimer’s, dementia, Parkinson’s, or memory care

  • CPR/First Aid certification

Physical Requirements

This is an active, hands-on role. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with medical limitations and/or disabilities to perform the essential functions. Requirements include, but are not limited to:

  • Lift, move, and assist clients, as needed

  • Safely assist clients in and out of a vehicle

  • Safely lift and/or move up to 50 lbs (e.g., a wheelchair or walker into/out of a vehicle)

  • Reasonably communicate with others to accurately exchange information

  • Operate office equipment such as a computer, phone, etc.

  • Perform tasks such as light housekeeping, walking, and driving

  • Stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, or push/pull throughout a shift

  • Climb stairs, as needed

  • Remain awake, seated, and alert during shifts

  • See clearly (with or without correction) to monitor client safety
