Cardiac Sonographer (Echo Tech)
Setting: Adult Outpatient / Inpatient Cardiology
Work Schedule: Full-Time | 4 Days x 10 Hours

Job Summary
This position requires considerable technical proficiency, experience, and clinical judgment to perform diagnostic cardiovascular ultrasound procedures and evaluate image data quality for Cardiologist interpretation. The successful candidate will possess in-depth knowledge of cardiovascular disease, blood flow dynamics, Doppler principles, and color flow imaging techniques. The Cardiac Sonographer is expected to demonstrate a thorough understanding of ultrasound instrumentation, cardiovascular physiology, pathology, and hemodynamics, effectively integrating these findings into clinically meaningful data.
Key Responsibilities
- Cardiovascular Ultrasound Execution: Perform high-quality diagnostic cardiac ultrasound examinations, including transthoracic echocardiograms (TTE), stress echocardiograms (treadmill and pharmacologic), transesophageal echocardiograms (TEE), and contrast-enhanced echo studies.
- Clinical Evaluation & Image Optimization: Analyze blood flow dynamics using color flow, pulse-wave, and continuous-wave Doppler techniques. Evaluate data quality to ensure accurate clinical interpretation by attending Cardiologists.
- Anatomical & Physiological Analysis: Apply comprehensive working knowledge of human anatomy, cardiovascular physiology, and pathology to identify structural and functional abnormalities.
- Patient Care & Safety: Prepare patients for procedures, explain exams, monitor patient status, and adhere strictly to radiation/patient safety and infection control protocols.
- Documentation & Workflow: Maintain detailed patient records, complete preliminary structured reporting in the imaging system, and ensure proper equipment calibration, hygiene, and maintenance.
Requirements
Education & Skills:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Successful completion of an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography or Cardiovascular Technology program strongly preferred.
Experience:
- Minimum of one (1) year of full-time clinical experience in cardiac ultrasound.
- Demonstrated hands-on proficiency in routine echoes, color flow, pulse-wave Doppler, continuous-wave Doppler, stress echo, pharmacologic stress testing, TEE assistance, and the use of contrast echo agents.
Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications:
- Active credential as a Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) through ARDMS, or Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) / Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) through CCI.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) / CPR certification required.
