About This Role
The Pre-K Teacher works alongside the lead / other teacher to provide a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment for children preparing for kindergarten. This role focuses on supporting classroom instruction, assisting with daily routines, encouraging positive behavior, and helping each child build the academic, social, emotional, and independence skills needed for school success.
What You'll Do
Responsibilities
- Support the lead teacher with daily Preschool/Pre-K classroom activities and learning experiences.
- Assist children with early literacy, math, writing, science, and hands-on learning activities.
- Help prepare classroom materials, learning centers, and activities.
- Supervise children and maintain a safe, clean, and organized classroom.
- Support positive classroom behavior and help children develop social-emotional skills.
- Assist children with transitions, meals, bathroom routines, handwashing, and rest periods.
- Provide individual support to children who may need additional assistance with activities or classroom routines.
- Encourage independence, communication, cooperation, and kindergarten readiness.
- Observe children's participation and progress and communicate concerns to the lead teacher.
- Work closely with the lead teacher and classroom team to maintain a positive learning environment.
- Maintain professional and respectful communication with families and staff.
- Follow all BAMS Enrichment Academy policies, procedures, and safety guidelines.
- Participate in required staff meetings, training, and professional development.
- Perform other classroom duties as assigned by administration.
Requirements
Minimum Requirements
- Must meet the applicable Georgia DECAL requirements for an assistant teacher.
- For a Georgia Pre-K assistant teacher, an approved credential is required. Acceptable credentials include a valid Paraprofessional Certificate, CDA credential, TCC/TCD in Early Childhood Education, or qualifying associate's/bachelor's or higher degree.
- Must complete the required background/criminal records check before employment.
- Must meet required CPR/First Aid and other applicable training requirements.
- Must demonstrate patience, professionalism, reliability, and a genuine love for working with children.
- Ability to communicate effectively with children, families, teachers, and administration.
- Previous childcare or preschool experience is preferred but can be listed as preferred rather than required, depending on the position you're hiring for.
