Job Summary:
The Assistant Manager is responsible for supporting the General Manager in the daily operation of Texas Best BBQ. This position helps lead the team, maintain excellent food and service standards, control costs, and ensure a clean, safe, and welcoming restaurant environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with daily restaurant operations and shift management.
  • Lead, coach, and motivate team members to provide excellent customer service.
  • Ensure food quality, portion control, presentation, and BBQ standards are consistently maintained.
  • Monitor food preparation, inventory, waste, and product availability.
  • Help manage labor and employee schedules to meet business needs.
  • Train new employees and provide ongoing coaching to staff.
  • Ensure all health, safety, sanitation, and food-handling standards are followed.
  • Handle customer questions, concerns, and complaints professionally.
  • Assist with opening and closing procedures, cash handling, and daily deposits.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization throughout the restaurant.
  • Communicate operational issues and staffing needs to the General Manager.
  • Step in as the manager on duty when the General Manager is unavailable.
  • Help achieve sales, labor, food-cost, and customer-service goals.

Qualifications:

  • Previous restaurant or food-service management experience preferred.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced restaurant environment.
  • Ability to train and motivate employees.
  • Strong customer-service skills.
  • Basic understanding of food cost, labor cost, inventory, and restaurant operations.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Food-handler or manager certification as required by Texas regulations.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and carry restaurant supplies and equipment.
  • Ability to work around hot grills, smokers, ovens, and other kitchen equipment.
  • Ability to work effectively in a busy, high-volume environment.
