Our Price, Utah facility is currently seeking a Paint Operations Assistant for our Day Shift. This position reports directly to the Final Assembly Supervisor / Paint Supervisor and supports daily operations within the paint department.

Position Summary

The Paint Operations Assistant provides labor and operational support for the day-to-day activities of the paint department.

This position assists with preparing equipment and components for painting, handling materials, maintaining work areas, and supporting other production activities as required.

For employees interested in developing additional skills, opportunities may be available to train and advance into an Industrial Painter position.

Essential Functions

Essential responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Prepare equipment and components for painting by cleaning, washing, applying caulk, taping, masking, wiping, vacuuming, hanging, and completing other preparation activities.
  • Lift and hang parts or pieces onto racks so they can be cleaned and painted.
  • Operate a pressure washer.
  • Operate various sizes and makes of forklifts.
  • Operate an overhead crane.
  • Wear a respirator as required.
  • Prepare and clean surfaces, re-tap holes, and complete painting work necessary to restore equipment to OEM condition.
  • Disassemble, clean, and repair equipment as needed.
  • Finish, patch, and repair surfaces as required, including emergency repairs.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area by practicing good housekeeping.
Industrial Painting Training Opportunities

Under supervision, training may be provided for employees interested in learning industrial painting. Training and responsibilities may include:

  • Learning to operate and maintain paint equipment.
  • Removing existing paint and finishes and preparing surfaces for the application of new coatings.
  • Identifying the characteristics of surfaces being coated and determining the appropriate preparation and coating application methods.
  • Mixing and matching paints and other finishes.
  • Preparing materials and equipment used for a variety of painting and coating applications.
  • Applying a variety of coatings, including epoxies, enamels, urethanes, paints, varnishes, stains, and lacquers.
  • Using high-volume, low-pressure, airless, and conventional painting equipment.
  • Performing quality checks throughout each job to verify coatings are being applied according to specifications and to minimize rework.
Additional Essential Duties
  • Maintain regular and consistent attendance and report to work on time.
  • Follow and comply with IE Core Values, including all cardinal safety rules.
  • Follow and comply with the IE safety program.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work area at all times.
  • Assist the Final Assembly Department with the assembly and installation of electrical components as needed.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Job Requirements

Candidates for this position should be able to meet the following education, experience, physical, safety, and job-related requirements:

  • A high school diploma or GED is preferred. At minimum, completion of the 10th grade is required, along with up to one month of related work experience or training. An equivalent combination of education and experience may also be considered.
  • A valid driver’s license is required.
  • Must be capable of consistently lifting 20 pounds, frequently lifting or moving 40 pounds, and occasionally lifting and/or moving up to 100 pounds.
  • The position requires frequent heavy lifting as well as ongoing bending and standing while working on a concrete floor.
  • Must be able to read and understand workplace documents, including safety rules, operating instructions, maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Must have the ability to prepare routine written reports and correspondence.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively when speaking to groups of customers or employees within the organization.
  • Must be able to perform basic mathematical calculations involving addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Must also be able to calculate rates, ratios, and percentages and be able to create and interpret bar graphs.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to solve practical problems involving a variety of concrete variables in situations where limited standardization exists.
  • Must be able to understand and follow instructions provided in written, verbal, diagram, or schedule format.
  • Basic computer skills are required to log work time and job hours.
  • Must hold valid OSHA forklift and overhead crane certifications or have the ability to obtain the required certifications.
  • Must successfully pass a Pulmonary Functions Test in order to wear and use a respirator.
  • Employees are required to comply with all IE safety programs, policies, and procedures and perform all job responsibilities in a safe manner.
  • Must be able to safely operate and work around machinery and moving equipment.
  • Vision requirements for this position include close vision, peripheral vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • The employee is regularly required to use their hands and fingers to handle or feel objects, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, and talk or hear.
  • The employee is frequently required to stand, stoop, kneel, crouch, or smell.
  • The employee is occasionally required to walk and sit.
Work Schedule

Employees must be available to work a standard 40-hour work week, along with additional hours when business or operational needs require them.
