Job Description
Avana Assisted Living is looking for experienced certified caregivers to join our team in providing quality care in a specially-designed, 10-resident luxury assisted living home in south Tempe. Hiring AZ certified caregivers for part time 12 hour shifts. Looking for day shift 7am-7pm Friday & Saturday
Must have all current documents prior to interview- AZ Fingerprint Clearance Card, AZ Caregiver Certification, In Person - CPR/ First Aid, TB Test & Food Handlers Card.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Responsible for fulfilling daily, weekly and monthly job checklist duties and other assigned duties.
- Understand the resident’s alert status including changes of condition and what to be aware of concerning the resident; Report changes immediately to your manager.
- Reads, understands and appropriately documents reports.
- Understand and agree to follow the resident’s service plan and keep updated as care needs change.
- Assists with all care needs the resident may have as directed on the individual resident’s service plan.
- Assist with dining room service (set up, serve, clean up)
- Re-stocks the resident’s incontinent supplies & notify when supplies are getting low.
- Collects and disposes of trash in designated receptacles.
- Wash, dry, fold and put away resident personal laundry as scheduled and as needed.
- Observes residents for changes in physical, emotional, mental, or behavioral condition, unusual symptoms, accidents, injuries, or unusual occurrences, and reports promptly to your manager.
- Encourages residents to participate in scheduled activities, and assists with those activities as needed.
- Makes resident beds, empties resident garbage, and tidies resident rooms daily and as needed.
- Maintains resident clothing and clothing closet in a clean, neat and orderly manner.
- Cleans dining room tables and chairs after meals and snacks.
- Prompting and Assisting residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, toileting, grooming, etc.
- Help clients with mobility, including lifting and transferring them safely as needed.
- Administer first aid when necessary and maintain a safe environment for residents.
- Maintain confidentiality and respect the dignity of all residents.
- Verifies identity of resident receiving medication and records name of drug, dosage, and time of administration on resident’s chart.
- Presents medication to residents and observes ingestion or other application, or administers medication.
- Takes vital signs or observes residents to detect response to specified types of medications and prepares reports or notifies designated personnel of unexpected reactions.
- Receives supply of ordered medications for administration to residents.
- Counts narcotics at the beginning and end of shift and records on appropriate forms. Notifies management immediately of any discrepancies.
- Responds to call lights in a timely manner.
- Monitors for effectiveness of PRN medications and reports and documents outcomes.
- Provide assistance with the cleanliness of the medication room, supply closets, laundry room, pantry, bedroom/bathrooms and all other areas of the house.
- Understands and adheres to the guidelines of “Residents Rights”.
- Attends periodic in-services and staff meetings
- Deep cleaning of the facility
- Completing nightly checklist.
- Filling out Daily Communication Notes for each resident
Qualifications and Essential Functions:
- An Arizona Caregiver Certification is required.
- Knowledge of ADLs and patient observation techniques.
- Certification in First Aid and CPR is required
- Must have a fingerprint clearance card and 2 step negative TB test
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to help others are essential traits for success in this role.
- Ability to lift residents safely and perform physical tasks associated with caregiving.
- Standing for long periods of time.
- Communication with team members, families and residents.
- Ability to work with little supervision and maintain a high level of performance.
- Resident oriented and friendly.
- Prioritization and time management skills.
- Working quickly without compromising quality.
- Working in a Non-Smoking Environment.
- Awake Staff Overnight - lights are on.

Job Type: Full-time & Part-time
Pay: $20.00 - $21.00 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 24 per week
