Community Relations Specialist
Job Description
Temps may occasionally enter patients' homes to check on them. Acts as a liaison between the community and City Human Services, with occasional focus on serving seniors at the Sunnyside Health Center location. Provides referrals, information, and links the senior program with Congregate. Must have a professional demeanor with working with the elderly and the community. Will perform other duties as assigned. Must have a valid Texas Drive and comply with AP 2-2 policy.
SPECIFICATIONS
Note: It is mandatory that all Houston Health Department Temporary Employees are REQUIRED to be current on their vaccinations. Upon your initial visit to Employee Health, expect to receive a Tuberculosis Skin Test, administration of vaccines that are not up to date, and blood work if needed.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
KNOWLEDGE: Basic knowledge of grammar, spelling, punctuation and simple mathematical functions like percentages, ratios, etc. as might normally be acquired through attainment of a high school diploma or a GED
LICENSE: May require a valid Texas driver's license and compliance with the City of Houston's policy on driving .EXPERIENCE: Six months of experience are required.
PHYSICAL EFFORT: The position occasionally requires stooping or bending. Occasional very light lifting, such as three or four reams of papers or books (up to 20 pounds or an equivalent weight) may be required
WORK ENVIRONMENT: There are no major sources of discomfort, i.e., essentially normal office environment with acceptable lighting, temperature and air conditions
PHYSICAL SKILL: Requires the ability to make simple gross motor responses within large tolerances.
