Classification: Part-time; Monday-Friday; dismissal-6:30pm; up to 4hrs; August-May; Summer hours varyEducation Assistant: School Staff/Teacher Assistants at the following locations:-Cotton Belt Elementary-Harold C. Johnson Elementary-York Intermediate-Jefferson Elementary-Hunter Street Elementary-Hickory Grove Elementary-Great Falls Elementary-Chester Park ElementaryGeneral Function: Plan, implement, facilitate, and supervise activities and programs (focus on the education core area). Promote safety of members, quality of programs, care and upkeep of equipment, and appearance of the Club at all times.Education, Experience and Skills RequiredHigh School Diploma/GED/College Degree or working towards college degree from an accredited college/university and 1-2 years program delivery experience. Non-certified teachers/School staff.Knowledge, skills and abilitiesAbility to deal effectively with staff and youthDemonstrate good written and verbal communication skills Knowledge of youth development.BI-LINGUAL IN ENGLISH/SPANISH A PLUSUnderstand the Clubs' philosophy, vision and goalsAbility to establish and cultivate positive relationships with youthJob ResponsibilitiesDemonstrate and promote Core ValuesImplement CurriculumPlan and manage the education program that helps youth prepare for the future, and provide opportunities for educational enhancement including:1. Power Hour (home work help)2. TutoringProvide guidance and role modeling to membersDesign colorful and informative displays and bulletin boards promoting program areasAssist in the execution of national projects and exhibitsMentor and inspire youth, adults and volunteers in the creative processKeep records of participants, schedules, attendance, and program resultsMandatory First Aid / CPROther duties as assignedPhysical and Mental Requirements:Must be comfortable performing multi-faceted projects in conjunction with day-to-day activities. Ability to get along with diverse personalities while at all times displaying tact, maturity and flexibility. Physical requirements include sight, hearing, standing for up to four hours a day, and ability to implement programs. Skills essential for success include speaking and writing.Environment & Working Conditions:After school/Recreational settings that include being in/out doors. Occasional weekend work to support organization's fundraising events, and activities.
