About This Role

The Head Teacher is responsible for leading a cohesive teaching team and overseeing the day-to-day operations of the classroom, while creating a nurturing environment that supports the whole child. This role requires strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills, as well as a commitment to equity, inclusion, and culturally responsive teaching.


This role supports the whole child—socially, emotionally, physically, and cognitively—while fostering strong relationships with families and colleagues. The Lead Preschool Teacher models professionalism, reflective practice, and ethical conduct consistent with NAEYC standards.



What You'll Do

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate comprehensive and engaging curriculum that meets the diverse needs of students.
  • Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes social-emotional learning, exploration, and creativity.
  • Establish and maintain open communication with families through regular updates, conferences, and collaborative conversations.
  • Conduct ongoing assessments and maintain accurate documentation of students' progress and maintain individual students' portfolios.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized classroom environment, adhering to all licensing regulations, health guidelines, and program policies.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to maintain a positive, team-oriented environment, and participate in professional development and reflective practice.


Requirements

  • Knowledge of NAEYC standards, DAP (Developmentally Appropriate Practice), and early learning frameworks.
  • Commitment to equity, inclusion, and culturally responsive teaching.
  • State-required teaching credentials or certifications.
  • At least 2 years experience working with preschool-aged children in a licensed early childhood setting.
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or related field (preferred).
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
