Summary
We are seeking an experienced Airflow Quality Inspector to inspect aerospace and gas turbine components for dimensional, visual, and airflow requirements. The ideal candidate will have previous aerospace or precision manufacturing inspection experience and be comfortable using precision measuring equipment and airflow testing equipment.
- Perform visual, dimensional, and airflow inspections of aerospace/gas turbine components
- Use precision measuring tools and testing equipment to verify parts meet customer specifications
- Interpret blueprints, mechanical drawings, travelers, and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)
- Document inspection and airflow test results accurately
- Work independently while maintaining strong communication with Quality, Engineering, and Management
Responsibilities
- Inspect finished components using calipers, micrometers, gauges, rulers, borescopes, and other precision measuring equipment
- Analyze blueprints, mechanical drawings, operation sheets, and travelers to verify product requirements
- Perform scheduled airflow testing, including shut-off valve, system leak, and flow restriction testing
- Analyze and document airflow test results and maintain accurate inspection records
- Load and unload parts for airflow and other testing processes
- Clean parts using chemical degreasers and parts-washing equipment
- Prepare parts for testing using foil tape and sealing wax
- Document inspection activities through control charts, travelers, reports, and ERP systems
- Identify and communicate quality issues or changes to appropriate personnel
- Follow AS9100 and NADCAP quality standards and company procedures
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment while following all PPE and safety requirements
- Work closely with Quality, Engineering, and Management to maintain production and quality standards
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required
- 2+ years of experience performing visual, airflow, and dimensional inspections of aerospace or gas turbine components
- Aerospace or industrial manufacturing experience preferred
- Experience in an ISO 9001, AS9100, or NADCAP-certified quality environment is a plus
- Strong understanding of precision measurement and inspection processes
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, mechanical drawings, and GD&T
- Strong mathematical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing
- Must be dependable, safety-conscious, detail-oriented, and able to work independently
Physical Requirements
- Must have 20/20 vision, natural or corrected, and be able to pass the required annual vision test
- Close vision, color perception, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus required
- Ability to regularly lift, push, or pull up to 35 lbs.
- Ability to operate an overhead crane or other lifting equipment when required
- Ability to stand for at least 50% of the scheduled shift
- Ability to walk, sit, reach, twist, bend, and grasp as needed to perform job duties
- Must be able to pass a drug test and background check
