OVERVIEW

The ideal candidate will be experienced in a custodian role focused on safety, cleanliness and building upkeep. They will have great physical endurance to cover a large space. A keen eye for detail and diligence is also imperative in custodial maintenance jobs.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Take out Trash and Recycling, including hoppers/pallets moved by forklift
• Keep common areas, walkways and forklift paths in the shop swept and clear of debris
• Maintain outer premises, driveway and parking areas
• Operate sit-down sweeper and forklift both inside and outside of the facility
• Undertake custodial and janitorial tasks (lifting heavy items, moving office equipment etc.)
• Report damages and help oversee repairs
• Assist in additional job task required by manager
• Maintain and organize stock of facilities janitorial supplies

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Communicate verbally and written in English
• Clear SC Driver’s License
• Forklift Certification and minimum 1 year experience

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

• Proven experience as custodian, janitor or in a similar role
• Minimum 1 year Forklift experience.
• Knowledge of use and maintenance of industrial cleaning equipment (floor sweeper).

• Knowledge of safe disposal of chemical liquids and other hazardous components
• Attention to detail and conscientiousness

COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:

• Regular work weeks are Four days, Monday to Thursday
• 30-minute unpaid lunch break
• Frequently exposed to noise
• Frequently assigned changing priorities
• This position requires you to be walking, standing, stooping, and bending for multiple hours of the day.
• Must be able to lift to 75 pounds at times.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is constantly required to sit and use hands to operate the telephone, type and operate computer and mouse.

• The employee is frequently required to talk, hear, and bend and twist neck.
• The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and rarely lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and distance vision.
