Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Lead Systems Administrator to serve as a senior technical resource within an enterprise infrastructure team. This is a hands-on technical leadership position focused on supporting and advancing the organization's infrastructure environment while helping shape its future technology strategy.

The ideal candidate will bring a strong, dedicated systems administration background with experience supporting hyperconverged infrastructure, Kubernetes, storage, networking, compute, and cloud technologies. Dell PowerFlex experience is highly preferred, although candidates with strong experience on comparable HCI platforms may also be considered.

This is not a traditional people-management position. The Lead Systems Administrator will serve as a technical advisor and mentor while partnering with other senior infrastructure resources on technology decisions, modernization initiatives, and long-term infrastructure planning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer, maintain, and optimize enterprise infrastructure across on-premises, hybrid, and cloud environments.
  • Support hyperconverged infrastructure, with a strong emphasis on Dell PowerFlex.
  • Manage and troubleshoot Kubernetes environments and their supporting infrastructure.
  • Diagnose complex issues involving storage, networking, compute, virtualization, and integrated infrastructure platforms.
  • Evaluate infrastructure performance, capacity, reliability, and scalability and recommend improvements.
  • Help define technical standards, best practices, and future-state infrastructure strategies.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and provide recommendations regarding future infrastructure investments.
  • Provide technical leadership for infrastructure upgrades, migrations, modernization efforts, and new platform implementations.
  • Support Azure, Microsoft 365, and hybrid-cloud technologies.
  • Contribute to automation, security, backup, disaster recovery, and infrastructure resiliency initiatives.
  • Serve as a senior escalation resource for complex systems and infrastructure issues.
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to other IT team members without direct supervisory responsibility.
  • Collaborate with vendors and internal technology teams during implementations, upgrades, and technology evaluations.
  • Maintain infrastructure documentation, operating procedures, architecture standards, and compliance-related records.

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of dedicated systems administration or enterprise infrastructure experience.
  • Strong career foundation specifically within systems administration and infrastructure.
  • Minimum of 1–2 years of hands-on experience with Dell PowerFlex or another enterprise hyperconverged infrastructure platform.
  • Significant Dell PowerFlex experience is highly preferred.
  • Experience with comparable HCI technologies such as Dell EMC, NetApp, Cisco, or similar platforms may be considered.
  • Hands-on experience supporting and maintaining Kubernetes environments.
  • Strong understanding of how networking, storage, and compute work together within enterprise infrastructure.
  • Advanced troubleshooting skills across multiple infrastructure technologies.
  • Experience with virtualization, storage, backup, disaster recovery, and enterprise systems.
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365, and hybrid-cloud environments.
  • Working knowledge of infrastructure security, identity, and access-management technologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide technical leadership and mentorship to other IT professionals.
  • Experience supporting infrastructure modernization, cloud transformation, automation, or data-center initiatives.
  • Strong communication, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience developing infrastructure standards or long-term technology roadmaps is preferred.
  • Familiarity with Zero Trust, ITIL, SOX, or other enterprise security and compliance frameworks is a plus.
  • Oil and gas industry experience is preferred but not required.
  • Relevant Azure, VMware, infrastructure, or security certifications are a plus.
