Position Overview

We are seeking a compassionate and reliable individual to provide respite care support for youth in a safe, structured, and nurturing environment. This role is focused on offering temporary relief to families and primary caregivers while ensuring each young person receives attentive supervision, positive engagement, and individualized support.

What You’ll Do
  • Provide short-term, respite care for youth in accordance with individual care plans and household guidelines.
  • Support daily routines, including meals, hygiene, activities, and transitions.
  • Maintain a calm, respectful, and encouraging environment.
  • Engage youth in age-appropriate activities that promote well-being, learning, and positive development.
  • Monitor safety, behavior, and emotional needs, responding appropriately and promptly.
  • Communicate effectively with families, supervisors, and other support team members as needed.
  • Document observations, incidents, and relevant care details accurately and professionally.
  • Follow all applicable policies, procedures, confidentiality requirements, and mandated reporting obligations.
Qualifications
  • Experience working with children or youth in a caregiving, support, education, or related setting.
  • Ability to remain patient, composed, and attentive in a variety of situations.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to providing respectful, person-centered care.
  • Ability to follow directions, routines, and care plans with consistency.
  • Basic organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Willingness to complete any required training, background screening, or certifications.

  • Experience supporting youth with diverse needs or abilities.
  • Familiarity with trauma-informed, strengths-based, or family-centered care approaches.
  • Ability to adapt to changing needs and maintain a supportive presence.
