Tax Manager

Hoxton Circle
New York, NY, US Full Time

Job Description

Job Description

About the Company

Our client is a global energy company with international infrastructure operations spanning power generation, logistics, and energy delivery.

The Role

We're hiring a Tax Manager to join the company's New York headquarters. This role leads the U.S. federal, state, local, and international tax compliance function, making sure every return is filed accurately and on time while keeping the company's SOX tax controls in strong shape.

This is a hands-on role for someone who wants ownership over a complex, multi-jurisdictional compliance function at a fast-moving, entrepreneurial company.

What You'll Do

  • Manage preparation and timely filing of the consolidated U.S. federal income tax return, state and local returns, and non-U.S. income tax returns, working alongside outside preparers and consultants
  • Own the global tax compliance calendar, tracking deadlines, extensions, and estimated payments across all jurisdictions
  • Manage indirect tax compliance, including sales and use tax, property tax, and other transactional filings, registrations, and audits
  • Respond to and manage tax audits, notices, and information requests, coordinating with outside counsel and advisors
  • Maintain and strengthen tax-related SOX internal controls and documentation for public company reporting
  • Manage tax compliance software and workflow tools (e.g., OneSource) used for return preparation, provision, and recordkeeping
  • Support the Director of Tax Operations on transfer pricing documentation and international tax planning

What You Bring

  • Bachelor's degree with a CPA; advanced degree in tax preferred
  • 3-5 years of tax compliance experience at a Big Four firm or comparable company
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. federal, state, and local tax compliance; non-U.S. experience a plus
  • Experience managing compliance calendars, filings, and coordination with outside preparers and tax authorities
  • Familiarity with SOX internal controls and public company tax reporting
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to run multiple complex, multi-jurisdictional projects at once
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to hold your own with business colleagues, tax authorities, and outside advisors
  • Solid Excel and tax software skills
  • High integrity and a strong personal work ethic
