Job Description:
VIA is seeking a per diem Job Coach. This position is primarily responsible for providing guidance, support, and feedback to individuals who are blind/visually impaired at their training/work sites and to objectively document performance.
Essential Functions:
- Coach, teach, monitor and provide support to individual at their work site
- Provide individualized training to assist in the mastering of their assigned job duties
- Identify and communicate potential barriers to the success of the individual
- Provide guidance in learning to integrate with other employees and the work environment
- Assist in developing and enhancing communication with other employees and supervisor(s)
- Assist in developing necessary soft skills to be successful in the workplace
- Provide detailed and objective documentation of performance, establish short-term goals for improvement, monitor progress and provide regular feedback in accordance with established department/agency guidelines
- Celebrate successes and identify areas for growth in order to be successful in the workplace
- Communicate regularly with VIA staff

Qualifications:
- High school graduate or equivalent required
- Previous successful work experience required
- NYS drivers license and reliable transportation OR the ability to travel effectively to assigned geographic locations
- Experience working with people who are blind/visually impaired preferred but not required
