A Preschool Assistant Teacher is crucial in supporting the lead teacher in providing young children a nurturing and educational environment. This position primarily focuses on assisting with the day-to-day operations of the preschool, ensuring the safety, well-being, and development of the children in the classroom.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist Lead Teacher: Collaborate with the Lead Teacher to design and maintain a stimulating classroom that supports preschool children's cognitive, social, and emotional development.
  • Supervision and Safety: Ensure the safety and well-being of children by actively supervising during playtime, activities, and transitions, maintaining a safe and secure environment at all times.
  • Curriculum Implementation: Assist in executing age-appropriate curricula, lessons, and activities that align with the school's mission and promote early childhood development.
  • Classroom Management: Support the maintenance of an orderly classroom by encouraging positive behavior and assisting in resolving conflicts effectively and compassionately.
  • Daily Task Assistance: Aid children with daily routines, including mealtime, toileting, and naptime, fostering independence and self-help skills.
  • Individualized Support: Provide additional support to children with special needs by adapting activities and lessons as needed to accommodate diverse learning styles.
  • Communication: Maintain clear and professional communication with parents, updating them on their child's progress, milestones, and any concerns.
  • Record-Keeping: Help maintain accurate records of attendance, development assessments, and incident reports, ensuring compliance with school policies.
  • Cleaning and Organization: Keep the classroom clean, organized, and well-stocked with supplies. Assist in decorating and preparing the learning environment to align with themes and activities.
  • Professional Development: Attend training sessions, workshops, and school meetings to enhance teaching skills and stay informed of best practices in early childhood education.
Requirements:
  • Associates degree or Child Development Associate credential
  • A passion for working with young children and a nurturing, patient, and compassionate nature.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with children and parents.
  • Knowledge of age-appropriate teaching methods and child development.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and follow directions from the lead teacher.
