Full Stack Software Engineer, Moxie Orbit
Job Description
Salary Range $100,00-$115,000 DOE + Full Benefits
Build Software People Actually Use. Own What You Ship. Help Shape What Comes Next.
This isn't a role where you'll spend months building something and wonder whether anyone uses it. As a Full Stack Software Engineer at Moxie, you'll be the primary engineer helping take Moxie Orbit, our proprietary software platform, forward.
Orbit helps our leaders run stronger teams and make better decisions. People across Moxie rely on it every day, and we're preparing it to support a much larger part of the company.
You'll work directly with the VP of Technology and alongside the other people who contribute to Orbit. You'll spend most of your time building across the stack, but you'll also own what happens after your code ships: reliability, integrations, data integrity, releases, and the engineering issues that matter most to our users.
We're a small technology team, which means you'll have real ownership, short feedback loops, and a meaningful voice in architecture and product decisions. AI is already part of Orbit and our engineering workflow, and we expect its role to grow.
Why Engineers Apply Here
- Be the primary engineer helping lead the next stage of an established internal product
- Work directly with the VP of Technology
- Have a real voice in architecture and product decisions
- Build software used by teams across a 44-branch company
- Stay close to users and see the impact of your work quickly
- Work across the full stack instead of being limited to one layer
- Use AI both in the product and as part of the engineering workflow
- Solve real operational problems and eliminate repetitive manual work
- Full benefits
- Visa sponsorship available
- Build and improve full-stack capabilities that make Orbit more useful and allow it to support more of the business
- Improve monitoring, diagnose production issues, and fix underlying causes
- Build and maintain integrations with systems across Moxie, including external REST APIs
- Design changes to a substantial relational data model and write safe production migrations
- Protect data integrity and handle failed jobs, bad data, and broken integrations
- Help maintain a dependable CI/CD, deployment, and release process
- Take meaningful work from an idea through development, release, and production support
- Work directly with users to understand problems, evaluate what is worth building, and support teams adopting Orbit
- Help shape technical and product decisions as Orbit grows
- Use AI thoughtfully as part of both the product and the way we build it
In your first six months, you'll understand the Orbit codebase, earn the trust of the people using it, and be able to take meaningful work from an idea through release. Orbit will have a dependable development, monitoring, and release rhythm.
By the end of your first year, Orbit will support a larger part of Moxie, production issues will require less manual attention, and the team will be able to deliver improvements faster without sacrificing quality.
Is This Role a Fit for You?
This job will be a great fit if you:
- Have 3+ years of experience building and maintaining production web applications
- Are strong with TypeScript and React
- Are comfortable with SQL, relational data modeling, and substantial schemas
- Have experience integrating external REST APIs and designing for failures
- Can diagnose production problems instead of stopping once the code works locally
- Have experience with CI/CD pipelines and production deployments
- Can read and reason about a large codebase you didn't write
- Enjoy taking ownership of software after it reaches production
- Like working directly with users and understanding how the business actually operates
- Notice repetitive manual work and naturally start thinking about how software could eliminate it
- Are comfortable working on a small team where you'll have significant responsibility and autonomy
- Comfortable commuting to the office in Tempe each day
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience required.
Experience with a modern full-stack React framework, PostgreSQL or another relational database, ORMs, scheduled jobs, cloud infrastructure, infrastructure as code, LLM APIs, analytics or reporting systems, or internal operations software is a strong plus.
This role may not be the best fit for someone looking for a narrowly defined engineering lane, a large team with heavily divided responsibilities, or a role where development ends when a ticket is merged. You'll be expected to understand the product, care about production, and take responsibility for the result.
How We Work
We're a small team, so you won't spend months building in isolation. You'll work directly with the VP of Technology and stay close to the people affected by what you build. Our users give us direct, honest feedback, and you'll often see the impact of a change within days.
We pay attention to the manual work people have accepted as normal. A good project might start by watching someone spend twenty minutes on something they repeat every day, then finding a way to give that time back.
AI is part of our engineering workflow and helps a small team accomplish more. We still expect careful review, sound judgment, and ownership of the result.
The standard is software people can depend on.
