Job Description
JOB SUMMARY
The Director, Supply Chain Management of Alloy Surfaces Company (ASC) leads and manages the organization's supply chain strategy and operations with the intent of driving sustainable operational results and improving key performance indicators. Primary responsibilities include Sales, Inventory & Operations Planning (SIOP), procurement, materials management, inventory management, and master scheduling. This role requires a strong understanding of Lean principles, a proven track record of implementing process improvements, and the ability to work cross-functionally across departments while communicating effectively at all levels of the organization.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide strategic leadership and direction for the Procurement, Materials Management, Master Scheduling, Planning, and Inventory Management functions to support business objectives, customer requirements, and program execution
- Develop and manage supplier relationships to ensure solid support for ASC’s operations
- Lead supply chain initiatives that drive operational improvements through Lean methodologies, problem-solving, performance metrics, and visual management
- Manage material costs through strategic sourcing, supplier negotiations, long-term agreements (LTAs), forecasting, and inventory optimization
- Develop strategies to mitigate supply chain risks, material shortages, and obsolescence through communication, supplier collaboration, forecasting, and inventory planning
- Develop supplier partnership agreements to support risk sharing, surge capacity, and supplier capability
- Lead vendor consolidation and purchasing standardization initiatives to improve supplier performance and reduce the total cost of ownership for products and services.
- Ensure effective utilization of ERP/MRP systems to support material planning, scheduling, inventory control, reporting, and supply chain performance
- Develop and leverage analytical tools and reporting to improve supply chain visibility, decision-making, and operational performance (Excel, Access, ERP/MRP Reports, etc.).
- Drive supplier and organizational performance through KPIs, performance metrics, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Communicate material status, supply risks, and recovery plans to Program Management, Operations, and leadership to minimize production disruptions and customer impacts
- Partner with Operations, Engineering, Quality, Program Management, Finance, HSE, and other cross-functional teams to optimize supply chain performance and support business growth
- Support company objectives related to safety, quality, delivery, cost, and customer satisfaction
- Oversee production planning, demand forecasting, inventory management, and the master schedule to support customer commitments, manufacturing capacity, and financial objectives
- Ensure compliance with FAR, DFARS, customer contractual requirements, and company policies
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS
- Ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures, including but not limited to the Code of Conduct, U.S. Code of Ethics and Business Conduct, and the Chemring Operational Framework

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
- Typically supervises managers of various functions under purview
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business, or related field
- MBA and/or APICS certification preferred.
- Lean and/or Six Sigma certification(s) preferred
EXPERIENCE
- Minimum of 12 years of progressive leadership experience in Supply Chain or Operations within a regulated manufacturing environment, preferably aerospace or defense
- Experience supporting U.S. Government contracting activities, including FAR and DFARS requirements
- Experience leading, managing, and implementing impactful process improvement projects
- Coding/Report Development (i.e. Crystal Reports, TOAD, SQL) experience preferred
ADDITIONAL SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be eligible to obtain and/or maintain a U.S. Government Security Clearance commensurate with the level of facility clearance.
- Strong leadership, interpersonal, communication, influencing, and organizational skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization.
- Ability to build strategic supplier partnerships and negotiate complex commercial agreements
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to apply sound judgment, initiative, and creativity to complex technical challenges.
- Knowledge of Sales, Inventory & Operations Planning (SIOP)
- Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement methodologies
- Ability to manage multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
- Strong decision-making skills and a results-driven approach
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
- Proficiency with D365 ERP systems preferred
PHYSICAL AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, or otherwise moving objects, weighing up to 10 pounds occasionally and/or a negligible amount of weight frequently. Involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. Use of computer.
