Driver Transportation Support
Job Description
Principal Function: Under the direction of the Office Manager this position will operate a company van to transport patients to and from non-emergency medical appointments safely, punctually, and professionally. The driver will assist patients with limited mobility, keep the vehicle clean, and maintain accurate daily driving logs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Greet and assist any patient with limited mobility during boarding and exiting the vehicle.
- Coordinate authorized referrals, trip eligibility, pickup and destination information, appointment and return times, routing, caregiver accompaniment, cancellations, delays, and other trip details with designated WCCH staff.
- Document and record accurate trip logs and odometer readings.
- Conduct daily pre-trip vehicle safety inspections and report maintenance issues immediately to Office Manager.
- Keep required in-vehicle safety gear, first aid kits, and spill kits fully stocked.
- Document and follow incident response procedures.
- Assists in ensuring regulatory compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Labor Laws and other federal, state, and local regulations.
- Attend staff meetings and conferences as required.
- Maintain a valid Indiana Driver's license with a For-Hire Endorsement
- Complete mandatory annual CPR, First Aid, and PASS safety certifications.
Supervisory Responsibilities: This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must hold a valid standard Indiana driver's license for a minimum of one continuous year. The individual must pass the written Indiana BMV For-Hire knowledge exam and complete the Passenger Assistance Safety and Sensitivity (PASS) training course covering wheelchair securement, lifts, and passenger assistance techniques. The individual must complete an approved defensive driving course within the timeframe required by the NEMT broker. Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
