IMMEDIATE OPENING - Lead Teacher
This position is for a lead teacher for a 3 year old classroom. (older 3s / Younger 4s) The teacher will work summer hours of 5 to 6 per day, or 7 to 8 hours per day 2026-2027 preschool year. Schedule will be set within hours from 730 - 5:30. The applicant must be able to communicate, listen and work well with others in a team environment. The Lead Teacher will be responsible for lesson planning, interacting and engaging with children in developmentally appropriate activities, and supervising/interacting with any volunteers or staff assigned to the classroom.
What You'll Do
- Create and implement curricula activities and encourage participation by children, in play based learning centers.
- Supervise assistants and model teaching strategies in the classroom.
- Actively engage in activities; manage cleanliness, maintenance, and availability of classroom materials.
- Encourage self-help and good hygiene through behavior modeling.
- Help ensure smooth, daily transition from home to child care center.
- Follow all center policies and state regulations.
- Maintain personal professional development plan to ensure continuous quality improvement.
- Lead by example.
Requirements
- Minimum of 6 months experience working in a licensed child care center is a must. 1 Year preferred.
- ECD101 certification or higher education preferred.
- Be willing to learn and use high quality standards produced by Spartanburg Quality Counts.
- High energy.
- Ability to work well with others.
- A strong understanding of child development.
- Must clear full background check and must pass health screening.
- Must be able and willing to take frequent walks, engage in outdoor activity, use hands, fingers and handle objects, to talk clearly and hear voices at different levels.
- Must be able to kneel, bend ,squat in the classroom and playground environment.
- Vision ability will include seeing up close and distances, and to have peripheral vision and depth perception.
Nice To Haves
- Current Infant/child CPR and First Aid certification.
- 1 year or more of recent experience working in a licensed child care center.
- CDA, Early Care and Education Associates Degree, or additional Early Care and Education course work.
- Associates degree or higher in a RELATED field
