\tBoeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) Customer Support team is seeking an experienced Stress Analysis Engineer to join our team in Seal Beach, California.
\tWe're seeking a highly motivated candidate with experience in stress analysis. The engineer will be responsible for the substantiation of various interiors and system aircraft commodities using classical, empirical, and finite element analysis (FEA) methods. The stress analyst must also be able to effectively communicate technical requirements, analysis and findings to engineers, leads, and managers.
\tThis position requires flexibility to support a fleet operating 24/7/365. Occasional off-shift work may be necessary to respond to emergent issues
\tPosition Responsibilities:
\tPerform and document structural analysis of various aircraft Interiors and Systems commodities
\tUnderstand and show compliance with applicable FAA and EASA regulations and requirements for certification
\tCreate and validate Finite Element Models from 3D CAD models with appropriate modeling assumptions and carry out the analysis of composite panels, inserts, metal bracket, fittings, tab and slots, and adhesive joints
\tSubstantiate appropriate structures though classical hand analysis
\tDetermine and predict potential failure modes for analysis
\tCoordinate and consult with other teams such as design, proper allowable groups, and teams of interfacing commodities to support in the creation, development, and proper analysis of structural designs
\tReview drawings of parts and assemblies to show substantiation through test, analysis, or similarity methods
\tRequired Skills:
\tBachelor degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry
\t3+ years of experience using linear and nonlinear statics Finite Element Analysis
\tExperience with efficient load paths and structural behavior
\tExperience with statics and structural analysis using classical, empirical, and finite element methods
\tPreferred Skills:
\tBachelor's or Master's degree in one of the following: mechanical engineering, civil engineering, aerospace engineering
\tExperience working with the following FEA pre and post processing tools: HyperMesh, HyperView, NASTRAN, and PATRAN
\tExperience with durability, fail-safe, and damage tolerance fundamentals
\tExperience working with or showing compliance to FAA and EASA regulations
\t4+ years of experience working with 3D CAD models and engineering drawings
\tEducation / Experience:
\tEducation/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
