Staff Accountant

Location: Lincoln, NE

Salary: $55,000–$60,000 + benefits

A growing organization headquartered in Lincoln is seeking an Accountant to join its corporate accounting team. This position will be responsible for providing accounting and financial reporting services across multiple operating locations.

This is a great opportunity for an accountant who enjoys variety, wants exposure to multiple areas of the business, and is looking to continue developing their accounting and financial reporting experience.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the preparation of monthly financial statements, including balance sheets and other management reports.
  • Ensure financial reports are completed accurately and on time.
  • Experience with monthly journal entries.
  • Perform general ledger account reconciliations
  • Identify and correct accounting discrepancies and inconsistencies.
  • Analyze financial information related to assets, liabilities, revenue, and expenses
  • Meet regularly with operational leaders to review financial results and answer accounting-related questions.
  • Assist non-accounting personnel in understanding accrual-based accounting and financial reporting.
  • Prepare and file sales tax, use tax, and personal property tax returns across multiple states.
  • Assist with other federal, state, and local tax filings as needed.
  • Review new agreements and contracts to determine appropriate accounting treatment.
  • Assist with annual audits and preparation of audit-related schedules and budgeting process.
  • Analyze financial data to identify trends, significant changes, and potential issues.
  • Partner with operational leaders to provide accounting support and help resolve financial questions.
  • Complete additional accounting and financial projects as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
  • Ability to accurately analyze financial information and identify discrepancies.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with both accounting and non-accounting professionals.
  • High degree of professionalism, integrity, and accountability.
