Housing Specialist (Supervised Independent Living Program)
Job Description
Position Overview:
The Housing Specialist supports youth transitioning from the Supervised Independent Living Program, as well as the Crisis and TIL programs, in securing stable, safe, and permanent housing. Responsibilities include assisting with NYCHA applications, City PHEPS, and other supportive or affordable housing options. The Housing Specialist also works with DHS families to complete housing applications and coordinate relocation efforts. The role requires familiarity with housing programs, agencies that offer financial or related assistance, and the various housing application processes.
Position Qualifications:
Associate degree from an accredited college and 1 year of housing experience or high school diploma and 3 years’ experience working with youth or families to obtain housing. Must be flexible as some evenings and occasional Saturdays may be needed. Must be comfortable working at several locations.
