About This Role

Supervise and instruct young children in a program designed to promote social, emotional, physical, and intellectual growth. Work under the direction of ECE Director and Program Coordinators to provide a high-quality program that meets the needs of each child and adheres to local, state, and federal regulations.



What You'll Do

  • Enter daily attendance through our Brightwheel system and ensure accurate records.
  • Design a curriculum that caters to the needs of each child and aligns with the program's objectives.
  • Organize materials and display students' work in a way that is visually appealing and engaging for their age group.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of children at all times, maintaining a secure and healthy environment that promotes their development.
  • Implement a Reggio Emilia approach to teaching and learning, incorporating current knowledge in child development and related disciplines.
  • Prepare the classroom for activities and lessons based on the Reggio Emilia approach.
  • Teach and reinforce safety protocols, including fire drills and lockdown procedures.
  • Establish a well-organized and safe classroom environment that adheres to school policies.
  • Prepare snack trays and assist children with clean-up.
  • Support children with personal care needs, such as diaper changes and bathroom assistance.
  • Assist children with dressing, hair drying, and other daily routines.
  • Feed and care for infants and toddlers, ensuring their nutritional needs are met.
  • Treat each individual with dignity, respect, and worth, and maintain open communication with parents and colleagues.
  • Share information with the director regarding parent and child interactions.
  • Collect children's belongings from cubbies and pack their backpacks before dismissal.
  • Attend staff meetings and contribute ideas for activities and bulletin boards.
  • Develop a monthly calendar of activities and contribute to bulletin board designs and theme activities.
  • Pursue ongoing education and professional development to enhance teaching skills and maintain certification.
  • Evaluate children's progress and development, and create progress reports using the Creative Curriculum Program.
  • Document work-related training, first aid, CPR, and medical certifications to ensure they remain valid and up-to-date.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Early Childhood Education Director.


Requirements

  • Minimum of eighteen (18) years old.
  • Minimum of high school diploma or equivalency certificate or at least five hundred and forty (540) hours documented experience in working with unrelated children of the same age(s) to be served in this program.
  • Associates or Bachelor’s Degree Preferred.
  • Minimum one year experience working in a classroom setting.
  • Must submit to and pass state background check.
  • Documentation of a physical examination and a negative TINE test, valid within one year of employment is mandatory.
  • Possess effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to properly instruct children and maintain a cohesive learning environment.
  • Must be able to visually observe children during active and passive pursuits in order to document behaviors and activities in accordance with state regulations and school policies.
  • Must be willing and able to read aloud age appropriate books and text to classroom children.
  • Knowledge of or ability to learn basic recordkeeping via iPad and technology programs.
  • Capability or ability to learn to assess children, and their development through the Preschool Assessment Framework, and Creative Curriculum.
  • Ability to establish priorities and work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work as a team with Director and co-workers.
  • Must be responsive and flexible to the needs of the program.
