Position Overview

The Assistant Girls Hockey Coach is responsible for supporting the success of the Girls Hockey program. Working in close partnership with the Girls Hockey Head Coach, the Assistant Coach manages the day-to-day operations of the program while playing a key role in preparing student-athletes for success at the varsity level. All coaches are required to abide by rules and regulations of the NFHS, the MSHSL, IMAC Conference and Breck School.

Responsibilities

  • Reinforce the tone and culture of the team – model teamwork, trust, inclusivity, respect and leadership; encourage sportsmanlike conduct at all times.

  • Manage and supervise practices and athletic events.

  • Work with student athletes to improve their abilities in Girls Hockey.

  • Partner with coaching staff to provide unity across all levels and teams.

  • Work with the Strength and Conditioning Coach to provide a year round support.

  • Encourage and support multi-sport athletes within Breck.

  • Participate in special activities, such as parent meetings, senior night, banquets, etc.

  • Attend meetings and events to improve coaching performance, such as professional development meetings, clinics, etc.

Qualifications

  • Prior playing or coaching experience in Girls Hockey.

  • Understanding of Girls Hockey fundamentals and effective coaching techniques and skills, including rules, regulations, strategies, and techniques of Girls Hockey.

  • Experience building and maintaining effective working relationships with school administrators, governing organizations (MSHSL, etc.), opponents, staff, parents, and athletes.

  • Exhibits professionalism, organizational, communication, delegation, and interpersonal skills.
