About This Role
The Assistant Teacher position involves supporting the Lead Teacher in delivering quality services to children in a preschool setting. As a role model, you will be expected to demonstrate exceptional behavior and provide constructive feedback to maintain a high standard.
What You'll Do
- The role requires working closely with the Lead Teacher to design and implement daily programs for the children, focusing on their overall development in areas such as emotional, social, cognitive, and physical growth.
- It is essential to provide individualized attention to each child, taking into account their cultural, socio-economic, and educational backgrounds, as well as any disabilities or special talents they may have.
- Children will be encouraged to think creatively, solve problems independently, and develop self-respect and empathy for others.
- Additional responsibilities include supervising the classroom, assisting with meals and snacks, attending staff meetings, and reporting any maintenance or supply needs to the Lead Teacher.
- You will be responsible for promoting a positive and respectful environment within the preschool, maintaining confidentiality, and fostering good relationships with colleagues, families, and community partners.
- Moreover, the role requires staying up-to-date with professional developments in early childhood education and sharing new knowledge with the staff through workshops, newsletters, or staff meetings.
- As a leader and role model, you will be expected to demonstrate professional conduct, adhere to confidentiality protocols, and provide high-quality services to children and families.
- Assist the preschool leadership in maintaining security of all preschool confidential information and maintain knowledge of CPR and First-aid.
- Serve as a greeter for the children and families, and perform daily tasks relating to the efficient operation of the preschool.
Requirements
- Must be physically able to lift a minimum of 40 pounds and work indoors or outdoors. Must be able to assume postures in low levels to allow physical and visual contact with children, see and hear well enough to keep children safe, and engage in physical activity with children
- Passion for children and a strong desire to make a difference daily
- Must meet state specific guidelines for the role
- Must be willing to receive professional development training in the education and development of young children
- Experience with general technology and computer equipment
- Minimum of 16 years of age
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Must be a self-starter with the ability to follow-through on tasks
- CPR and First Aid certification or willingness to obtain
- Must be able to pass a comprehensive background check
