About the Role
Koopman Lumber is looking for a dependable, hardworking Yard Maintenance & General Laborer to help keep our lumberyard clean, organized, safe, and running smoothly.
This is a hands-on position for someone who enjoys staying active, working outdoors, and taking pride in a job well done. You’ll be responsible for the overall cleanliness and upkeep of the yard while also assisting with material handling, basic maintenance, and other operational needs.
We’re looking for someone who takes initiative, notices what needs to be done, and is willing to jump in and help wherever needed.
What You’ll Do
- Keep the lumberyard, warehouse, loading areas, and surrounding property clean, safe, and organized
- Remove lumber scraps, trash, plastic wrap, bands, straps, cardboard, pallets, and other debris
- Keep aisles, walkways, loading areas, and workspaces clear of hazards
- Assist with organizing, stacking, and storing lumber and building materials
- Perform basic facility and yard maintenance, including minor repairs, painting, sweeping, pressure washing, and signage upkeep
- Assist with seasonal cleanup, including leaves, snow, ice, and weather-related debris
- Help identify and report maintenance issues, damaged equipment, and potential safety hazards
- Assist with loading, unloading, customer pickups, and incoming deliveries as needed
- Support yard personnel, drivers, receiving, and other departments when needed
- Assist with cull materials, damaged materials, pallets, and recycling
- Help with special projects and facility improvements
- Safely use basic hand tools and equipment as trained and authorized

Requirements:What We’re Looking For
- Dependable, punctual, and ready to work
- Strong work ethic and willingness to take initiative
- Comfortable working independently without constant supervision
- Able to perform physical work throughout the shift
- Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Able to safely lift, carry, push, and move building materials
- Safety-conscious and aware of trucks, forklifts, customers, and other activity throughout the yard
- Willing to help wherever needed and work as part of a team
- Basic knowledge of hand tools or general maintenance is a plus
- Previous lumberyard, warehouse, construction, landscaping, maintenance, or general labor experience is helpful but not required
