What You'll Do

• Plan and lead fun, educational, and recreational daily activities
• Supervise children and ensure a safe environment at all times
• Help students with homework
• Communicate daily with parents about student progress and events
• Manage classroom routines and guide positive student behavior
• Coordinate program supplies, schedules, and assistant staff

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required; college credits in education or child development preferred
• Minimum of six-months to one year of experience working with school-age children in a group setting
• CPR and First Aid certification or willingness to obtain within 30 days
• Pass a state background check, health screening and drug screening
• Strong oral and written communication skills and basic computer skills.
• High energy and the ability to work well with others (staff, children, and parents) and to foster a team environment.
• Excellent leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

Nice To Haves

• Degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, or related field
• Experience supervising or mentoring assistant teachers and staff
• Knowledge of local Chesapeake community resources and schools
• Valid driver license with a clean driving record for school pickup & field trips
