POSITION: Assistant Director, Caring for Jews in Need
EXEMPT / UNION GRADE 16
DEPARTMENT: Caring for Jews in Need
Union Grade 16 Salary Band: $83,933 to $118,236

SUMMARY DESCRIPTION OF POSITION:
Reporting to the Senior Director, Caring for Jews in Need (CJIN), the Assistant Director, creates and oversees the implementation of select Caring for Jews in Need programs and convenes CJIN partners and stakeholders for trainings and collaborations to further enhance CJIN’s social service safety net.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES
• Assist with strategic direction to CJIN Initiative, including CJIN Committee and the CJIN partnership process as it relates to safety-net services for vulnerable populations.
• Communicate and work with Federation social service partners and industry expert social service providers within the Jewish and non-Jewish space to identify and develop new innovative approaches to care for the most vulnerable Jews in Los Angeles, Israel and overseas.
• Lead the development and implementation of program impact and evaluation efforts for CJIN’s investments for the Jewish community, including staffing a CJIN lay task force dedicated to evaluation, working with contracted evaluation experts, and community partners.
• Collaborate, convene and work closely with social service partners and industry experts focusing on populations that are living in crisis; older adults and Holocaust survivors, those with intellectual and developmental disabilities and mental health.
• Staff subcommittees, working groups and task forces related to CJIN’s partnerships locally and overseas.
• Convene organizational partners with industry expert stakeholders to advance CJIN’s mission.
• Identify trends, best practices and conduct research on social service needs.
• Work with campaign, marketing and communication, and other strategic initiative colleagues to ensure relevant and timely information is reported to donors and shared with the community.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES:
Be available to supervisor for additional assignments, as required, including assisting with the Campaign.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED FOR POSITION:
• Degree in the field of Public Administration, Social Work, or related area preferred; grants management/development; minimum 2-3 years of experience in a community organization.
• Experience and interest caring communities and social service practices.
• Understanding of the structure of the Jewish community, its religious components, culture and history preferred; appreciation for an increasingly diverse LA Jewish community.
• Proficient in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
• Must be extremely organized, detail oriented, highly motivated, and flexible.
• Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal skills required.
• A hybrid work model will be implemented for certain positions. This position must report to worksite on non-remote workdays, as determined by the Federation.
