Automatic Door Technician
Job Description
We’re hiring an experienced Automatic Door Technician to join a growing field service team. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys troubleshooting, working independently, solving problems in the field, and delivering great service to commercial customers.
You’ll diagnose, repair, maintain, and install automatic and commercial door systems across a variety of facilities. We’re looking for someone who can walk into a service call, identify the problem, determine the right solution, and get the job done safely and correctly.
What You’ll DoDiagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain automatic and commercial door systems
Install and service automatic entrances, storefront doors, manual doors, and related equipment
Troubleshoot mechanical and low-voltage electrical issues
Complete service calls independently at customer locations
Communicate findings, repairs, and recommendations clearly with customers
Complete work orders, service notes, time logs, and parts requests accurately
Maintain parts, tools, and materials in an assigned service vehicle
Follow applicable safety standards and ensure completed work operates properly and safely
Identify solutions in the field using available tools, equipment, and parts
Hands-on experience servicing or installing automatic doors or automatic entrance systems
Experience diagnosing and repairing automatic door systems
Strong mechanical aptitude and electrical troubleshooting skills
Ability to independently diagnose problems and determine appropriate repairs
Comfortable using hand and power tools
Strong critical-thinking and problem-solving ability
Ability to work independently and manage field service calls
Valid driver’s license with a good driving record
Ability to lift up to 75 lbs., climb ladders, and work in a variety of commercial environments
Willingness to travel throughout the local service territory
Willingness to work occasional overtime, weekends, or participate in an on-call rotation
Experience servicing equipment from manufacturers such as:
Horton Automatics
Stanley Access Technologies
dormakaba / Dorma
record
Other commercial automatic-door or entrance-system manufacturers
AAADM certification is strongly preferred, but candidates with substantial automatic-door experience are encouraged to apply.
