A day in this roleYou start your morning huddle with a focused Quality team—aligning priorities for inspections, clarifying customer issues, and reviewing the day’s DOE reporting deadlines. Before lunch, you’re on the floor coaching operators through a new in-process check, then back at your desk building out a controlled SOP in the QMS. The afternoon brings a supplier call to address a chronic defect trend, followed by an 8D session with Engineering and Manufacturing to ensure a lasting corrective action. You finish the day briefing leadership on scrap, rework, warranty, and Cost of Quality trends—and the wins your Lean projects are generating.
What you’ll lead- Mentor and develop a high-performing Quality team; manage day-to-day department operations
- Design, implement, and sustain quality policies, procedures, SOPs, and document control
- Partner cross-functionally (Engineering, Manufacturing, Purchasing, Customer Service) to raise product quality and streamline processes
- Ensure regulatory compliance, including UL standards and Department of Energy (DOE) reporting
- Direct incoming, in-process, and final inspections; maintain calibration and measurement systems
- Lead structured problem solving (5-Why, Fishbone, 8D) to eliminate root causes
- Advance Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and CI initiatives to cut defects and boost throughput
- Own and report quality KPIs: scrap, rework, warranty, supplier performance, and Cost of Quality
- Oversee supplier quality, customer complaints, corrective actions, and executive-level reporting
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Business, or related discipline (required)
- 10+ years in manufacturing quality with leadership responsibility (required); ISO 9001 exposure (preferred)
- Experience in electrical manufacturing, power distribution equipment, or transformer manufacturing (highly desirable)
- Proficient with ERP, QMS, and Microsoft Office Suite (required)
Pay: $80,000 - $90,000/year
Type: Full-time, 1st Shift, On-site
Schedule: Monday – Friday 7:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
