Cataract Services Director
We are seeking a Cataract Counselor who combines a passion for helping patients with strong business management, sales, and communication skills. In this role, you will guide patients through the cataract surgery journey, educate them about their treatment and lens options, and help them confidently move forward with care.
The ideal candidate is personable, motivated, organized, and comfortable working in a patient-facing environment where both exceptional service and practice growth are important.
Key Responsibilities
- Meet with cataract patients to explain their diagnosis, treatment options, and next steps.
- Educate patients on surgical procedures, premium lens options, and available services in a clear, ethical, and patient-centered manner.
- Build trust and establish strong relationships with patients and their families.
- Follow up with prospective patients and help convert consultations into scheduled procedures.
- Identify opportunities to improve patient conversion, retention, and overall patient experience.
- Communicate effectively with physicians, clinical staff, billing, front office team and management.
- Maintain accurate patient and sales-related documentation.
- Track counseling outcomes, conversions, and other performance metrics.
- Participate in marketing, outreach, and business-development initiatives as needed.
- Consistently represent the practice with professionalism, empathy, and enthusiasm.
- Management of department staff
Qualifications
- Previous experience in sales, business development, healthcare sales, patient counseling, or a related field.
- Strong interpersonal, presentation, and closing skills.
- Proven ability to build rapport and establish trust quickly.
- Comfortable discussing pricing, elective services, and premium treatment options.
- Strong organizational and follow-up skills.
- Goal-oriented with the ability to meet or exceed performance targets.
- Professional, confident, compassionate, and highly motivated.
- Ophthalmology, optometry, or other healthcare experience is a plus, but not required.
