POSITION SUMMARY
The primary purpose of your position is to provide safe, timely, and courteous transportation for adult day program members to and from the center, while ensuring passenger comfort, assisting with mobility needs, and supporting overall participant safety and well-being in compliance with organizational policies and regulatory requirements.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Provide transportation of ADS members to and from the program and for approved activities, consistent with Community Care Program expectations that transportation is a component of ADS services.
Operate vehicles in full compliance with:
Illinois Vehicle Code [625 ILCS 5]
All applicable traffic and safety laws
Assist participants with:
Boarding and exiting vehicles safely
Proper use of seat belts, lifts, and mobility devices
Ensure participant safety, dignity, and supervision during transport, consistent with ADS program expectations to support participant well-being and
functioning
Safety and Monitoring Requirements
Conduct routine pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure safe vehicle operation.
Immediately report accidents, traffic violations, changes in driver’s license status
Maintain compliance with program procedures supporting participant safety and community integration, as required of ADS providers.
Maintain appropriate supervision of ADS members at all times while in transit.
Observe and report any changes in ADS condition or behavior to program staff.
Support ADS members’ rights to dignity, respect, and safe community-based services, consistent with IDOA program standards.
Comply with all applicable provisions of the Illinois Vehicle Code [625 ILCS 5], including but not limited to driver licensing requirements, vehicle operation laws, and passenger safety regulations, as required under 89 Ill. Adm. Code 240.1560.
Performs similar and other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS and EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or equivalent
Possess and maintain a valid Illinois driver’s license appropriate to the size and type of vehicle operated, including any required endorsements, in accordance with the Illinois Vehicle Code [625 ILCS 5].
Current certification in CPR and First Aid.
