Join the Richard Welsh Agency, a Farmers Insurance agency located in Lakewood, as an Insurance Sales Producer.
We are seeking a driven, customer-focused professional who enjoys working with people, building relationships, and helping customers find insurance coverage that fits their needs. In this role, you will connect with both new and existing customers, learn about their individual insurance needs, present coverage options, and recommend solutions that provide the right level of protection.
The ideal candidate is confident and comfortable communicating with customers, proactive with follow-up, and motivated by achieving both personal and team sales goals. Previous insurance experience is a plus, but we encourage individuals with backgrounds in sales, customer service, retail, hospitality, or other relationship-driven industries to apply.

Responsibilities
- Engage with prospective customers through outbound calls, internet leads, referrals, networking, and agency marketing efforts.
- Build lasting, professional relationships with new and existing customers.
- Learn about each customers needs and recommend insurance products and coverage options that align with their situation.
- Prepare and present quotes while selling auto, home, renters, umbrella, life, and other available insurance products.
- Identify additional coverage opportunities and cross-sell products that can help protect customers from potential coverage gaps.
- Educate customers on coverage options, deductibles, limits, discounts, and important policy features in a clear and easy-to-understand manner.
- Follow up consistently with prospects and customers throughout the sales process.
- Respond to customer questions and concerns quickly, professionally, and accurately.
- Maintain thorough and up-to-date records of customer interactions, sales activities, opportunities, and follow-up within the agencys CRM system.
- Consistently work toward individual activity, quote, premium, and policy production goals.
- Take part in agency meetings, product training, coaching sessions, and sales role-playing exercises.
- Build new business through referrals, networking, and proactive prospecting.
- Stay current on insurance products, underwriting requirements, discounts, and agency sales procedures.
- Provide a professional, knowledgeable, and positive customer experience throughout every interaction.
Requirements
- An active Property & Casualty insurance license is preferred.
- Candidates who are not currently licensed must be willing and able to obtain a California Property & Casualty license within 30 days of hire.
- A Life & Health insurance license is a plus.
- Prior experience in insurance, sales, customer service, retail, hospitality, telemarketing, or another customer-focused role is preferred.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally.
- Comfortable interacting with customers by phone, text, email, and in person.
- Ability to build rapport, establish trust, and create strong customer relationships from the initial interaction.
- Strong listening, presentation, communication, and negotiation skills.
- Self-motivated and goal-oriented, with an interest in performance-based incentives and commission opportunities.
- Positive, dependable, professional, and enthusiastic attitude.
- Willingness to learn, receive coaching, participate in training, and continuously develop sales skills.
- Comfortable addressing customer objections and confidently asking for the business.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and follow through on commitments.
- Able to work independently while also being a positive and productive member of a team.
- Basic computer skills and the ability to learn agency software, CRM systems, and other digital tools.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
