HVAC Multi-Family General Superintendent
Job Description
The HVAC General Superintendent is a senior field leadership position responsible for overseeing the successful execution of multiple Multi-Family HVAC projects and job sites. This position provides leadership, direction, training, and accountability to Superintendents while ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with contract requirements.
The General Superintendent serves as a key liaison between field operations, project management, estimators, subcontractors, General Contractors (GCs), and company leadership. This position is expected to identify and resolve escalated field issues, maintain strong relationships with GC partners, review project documentation and schedules, and ensure consistent execution of company processes across all Multi-Family projects.
The ideal candidate possesses strong Multi-Family HVAC construction experience, leadership capabilities, project management knowledge, and the ability to read and interpret construction documents, schedules, drawings, specifications, and SOVs. Experience with Autodesk is preferred.
Requirements:Multi-Site Field Operations
- Oversee multiple Multi-Family HVAC job sites simultaneously.
- Provide direction, support, and accountability to Superintendents.
- Conduct regular site visits to evaluate progress, manpower, quality, safety, productivity, and overall project performance.
- Ensure field operations remain aligned with project schedules, budgets, contracts, and company expectations.
- Identify potential delays, cost overruns, manpower issues, material shortages, and other risks before they become major problems.
- Establish consistent field procedures and expectations across all Multi-Family projects.
- Ensure Superintendents are properly managing daily field activities and communicating project status.
Superintendent Leadership & Development
- Train, mentor, and develop Superintendents.
- Establish clear performance expectations and hold Superintendents accountable for results.
- Provide coaching on scheduling, manpower planning, material coordination, documentation, quality control, and communication.
- Evaluate Superintendent performance and identify training or development needs.
- Develop standardized processes and best practices for field operations.
- Assist leadership in recruiting and selecting qualified Superintendents when needed.
- Build a strong pipeline of future field leaders.
GC & Client Relations
- Attend and actively participate in GC meetings, OAC meetings, coordination meetings, pre-construction meetings, and project progress meetings.
- Represent the company professionally with General Contractors, owners, architects, engineers, and other project stakeholders.
- Serve as an escalation point for significant field issues or customer/GC concerns.
- Resolve conflicts and operational issues while protecting the company's contractual and financial interests.
- Maintain strong working relationships with GC leadership and project teams.
- Ensure commitments made to GCs and customers are communicated to the appropriate internal teams and followed through to completion.
