Job Description
Robert Half is currently recruiting for a Controller for a well-established organization in the real estate and construction industry in the Tampa Bay area. Our client is seeking an experienced accounting leader to oversee financial reporting, construction accounting, budgeting, compliance, and the continued development of a more streamlined financial infrastructure. This is a high-impact opportunity for a Controller who brings strong real estate and construction accounting experience and enjoys improving processes and reporting. Working closely with executive leadership, the Controller will have significant ownership over the accounting function and financial architecture supporting a portfolio of real estate and construction projects.
- Lead accounting and financial reporting for real estate and construction activities, including construction-in-process (CIP), project draws, and financing.
- Re-engineer and standardize the General Ledger (GL) across projects to improve consolidated reporting, financial analysis, and visibility.
- Own the budgeting process, including monthly budget-to-actual reporting, variance analysis, and meetings with department leaders.
- Prepare monthly financial statements, management reporting, and analytical insights for executive leadership and the Board.
- Lead the annual financial statement audit and coordinate audit schedules and supporting documentation.
- Oversee financial compliance and reporting associated with grants, banking relationships, governmental funding, and other financing arrangements.
- Strengthen internal controls, accounting procedures, and reporting processes to create a scalable and efficient finance function.
- Provide leadership and oversight to the accounting team.

- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- CPA preferred.
- 8+ years of progressive accounting experience.
- Strong real estate and/or construction accounting experience.
- Solid knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, budgeting, audits, and internal controls.
- Demonstrated leadership, analytical, and process-improvement capabilities.
