Job Description
This role focuses on installing, commissioning, and troubleshooting custom-engineered electrical equipment for energy, industrial, and critical infrastructure clients across the country. You will travel to customer sites to perform field installations, diagnose and resolve equipment issues, complete testing and documentation, and coordinate closely with engineering and shop teams to ensure systems operate safely and reliably.

Responsibilities
- Travel nationwide to customer sites to perform field installations, equipment commissioning, and troubleshooting of electrical systems.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, single-line diagrams, and wiring layouts to plan and execute installations accurately.
- Install and terminate mechanical and electrical components including switchgear, control panels, breakers, power systems, transformers, and motor control centers (MCCs).
- Independently install and wire control panels and complex power systems in industrial environments, ensuring proper operation and safety.
- Use test equipment such as multimeters, megohmmeters, and phase testers to perform electrical testing, diagnostics, and verification of system performance.
- Reverse engineer problems in the field, identify root causes, and proactively work with clients to develop and implement effective solutions.
- Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues on installed equipment, making repairs and adjustments to restore reliable operation.
- Complete safety assessments at job sites and follow applicable safety standards and procedures during all field work.
- Prepare accurate field reports, testing results, and other documentation, ensuring all paperwork is completed thoroughly and on time.
- Coordinate with shop personnel, engineers, sales, and customer service teams to communicate field issues, installation progress, and customer feedback.
- Work directly with clients in a variety of environments, maintaining a professional, customer-focused presence at all times.
- Support shop operations when not traveling by assisting with equipment builds, installations, and troubleshooting in a busy production environment.
- Adhere to company and industry safety requirements, including the use of appropriate personal protective equipment on job sites and in the shop.
- Manage varying travel schedules, including extended trips of several weeks, and adjust to different site requirements and working hours to complete projects.

Essential Skills
- At least 7 years of industrial field service experience in electrical and mechanical systems.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to install mechanical parts and switchgear.
- Hands-on electrical experience, including wiring, installation, and troubleshooting of industrial electrical equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, single-line diagrams, and wiring layouts.
- Extensive knowledge of installing electrical systems on client sites, including control panels, MCCs, breakers, transformers, and power systems.
- Proficiency in using multimeters, megohmmeters, and phase testers for testing and diagnostics.
- Capability to reverse engineer problems and develop effective solutions in the field.
- Experience preparing field reports, testing documentation, and other project-related paperwork.
- Ability and willingness to travel across the country for varying durations, including trips that may extend up to a month.
- Strong troubleshooting skills for both electrical and mechanical components in industrial environments.
- Comfort working in client-facing roles and communicating clearly with customers and internal teams.
- Valid TWIC card (Transportation Worker Identification Credential).

Additional Skills & Qualifications
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
- NFPA 70E certification.
- Experience working in fast-paced production shops and large industrial customer sites.
- Ability to coordinate with engineers, sales, and customer service to relay technical issues and customer needs.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety in both field and shop environments.

Work Environment
Work alternates between field assignments at large customer sites and time in a medium-sized, clean, and organized production shop. Field work is typically performed during day shift hours Monday through Friday, with schedules varying by client site and occasional Saturday or Sunday work when traveling.
Travel can be sporadic, with some trips lasting up to a month and other periods spent at home working in the shop.
Hours during travel can exceed 50 per week to complete projects, while time in the shop generally aligns closer to a standard 40-hour workweek, with flexibility for additional hours as needed. The shop is non-climate-controlled, featuring open bay doors and ample fans, and operates at a fast pace.
Required attire includes steel-toe footwear, jeans, a work shirt, and safety glasses.
Hotel accommodations are paid when traveling, and a $150 per diem is provided for each day in the field.

Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Pasadena, TX.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $28.00 - $32.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
