Position Overview
Exential is seeking a Sr QA/QC Inspector to support semiconductor construction and tool installation projects in San Jose. This individual will play a critical role in overseeing quality inspections, ensuring compliance with industry codes and client standards, and helping integrate newly acquired operations into Exential's corporate QA/QC procedures and quality management systems.
This is a hands-on role requiring extensive experience with pipe and tube inspection, weld quality verification, walk-downs, and field quality control within highly regulated environments. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in semiconductor, pharmaceutical, high-purity process systems, or similar technical industries.
As a Sr-level position, candidates must be capable of working independently with minimal supervision and possess a thorough understanding of quality programs, inspection procedures, and applicable industry codes.

Key Responsibilities
Quality Assurance & Quality Control
• Perform inspections of piping, tubing, welding, fabrication, and installation activities.
• Verify compliance with project specifications, quality plans, client requirements, and applicable industry standards.
• Conduct detailed field inspections throughout construction and installation activities.
• Review and validate inspection documentation, quality records, and turnover packages.
• Ensure quality requirements are maintained throughout fabrication, installation, testing, and commissioning phases.
Weld & Piping Inspection
• Perform visual weld inspections and verify weld quality.
• Inspect UHP piping and tubing systems for compliance with project requirements.
• Evaluate fabrication and installation work against applicable codes and standards.
• Review weld procedures, welder qualifications, and inspection records.
• Coordinate corrective actions and rework activities when deficiencies are identified.
Walkdowns & Tool Installation Support
• Lead field walkdowns and punch-list activities.
• Support turnover and system acceptance processes.
• Verify proper installation of process piping, equipment, and associated systems.
• Coordinate with construction, engineering, and commissioning teams to resolve quality issues.
• Ensure all systems are installed in accordance with approved drawings and specifications.
Documentation & Compliance
• Maintain accurate inspection reports and quality records.
• Prepare non-conformance reports (NCRs) and corrective action documentation.
• Review quality plans, procedures, and inspection test plans (ITPs).
• Support audits and quality reviews.
• Assist with implementation and enforcement of corporate QA/QC procedures.
Stakeholder Collaboration
• Work closely with project managers, superintendents, engineers, craft professionals, and client representatives.
• Serve as a key quality resource for project teams.
• Communicate inspection findings and recommendations clearly and professionally.
• Support continuous improvement efforts and quality program development.

Required Qualifications
• Minimum 5+ years of QA/QC inspection experience within construction, fabrication, piping, or process industries.
• Experience inspecting pipe and tube installations in semiconductor, pharmaceutical, cleanroom, or advanced manufacturing environments.
• Strong understanding of weld inspection processes and quality control requirements.
• Experience conducting field walkdowns and supporting tool installation activities.
• Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, P&IDs, isometrics, and quality documentation.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced construction environment.

Required Certifications
Candidates must possess one of the following:
• ASNT Level II Certification
• Certified Welding Inspector (CWI)

Technical Knowledge
Strong working knowledge of the following codes and standards:
• ASME B31.3 Process Piping
• ASME B31.1 Power Piping
• ASME BPE
• ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel Code Section IX
• API 1104
• Welding procedures, inspection methods, and quality documentation requirements

Preferred Qualifications
• Semiconductor construction experience.
• Ultra-High Purity (UHP) process piping experience.
• Pharmaceutical or biotechnology facility experience.
• Experience supporting commissioning, turnover, and startup activities.
• Additional NDE certifications are a plus.
• Familiarity with corporate QA/QC systems and quality management procedures.

Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Strong understanding of steel piping and steel ducts to support the movement of water, wastewater, and other chemicals
- Has been on projects previously where they've inspected or led the MEP efforts of projects, everything from mechanical, electrical, to plumbing, and control systems - *reference MEP projects and systems in job descriptions
- Experience working alongside inspection teams and coordinating with dynamic group, working with civil engineers, MEP superintendents, and contractors
- 10 years of working through MEP construction (can be flexible but dependent on their experience), doesn't have to be inspection specifically, can be coordinator or manager
- No technical degree required but must have strong working knowledge of MEP systems

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $60.00 - $75.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
