Laser Operator
Job Description
This role involves setting up and operating CNC laser cutting equipment to produce high-quality metal components according to detailed specifications. The Laser Operator loads materials, monitors machine performance, performs quality checks, and ensures production goals are consistently met while following all established safety and quality procedures.
Responsibilities- Set up, operate, and continuously monitor CNC laser cutting machines to ensure accurate and efficient production.
- Load raw metal materials into the laser cutting equipment and safely unload finished parts upon completion.
- Read and interpret blueprints, work orders, and technical specifications to determine cutting requirements and machine settings.
- Perform regular quality inspections on parts using measuring tools to verify dimensions, tolerances, and overall product quality.
- Identify and troubleshoot minor equipment issues, making appropriate machine adjustments to maintain optimal performance.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, adhering to housekeeping standards in the production environment.
- Follow all company safety procedures, guidelines, and quality standards throughout the production process.
- Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet daily production targets and improve process efficiency.
- Previous experience in manufacturing or machine operation, preferably with CNC or laser cutting equipment.
- Ability to read and understand basic blueprints, work orders, and technical drawings.
- Proficiency in using measuring instruments such as calipers, tape measures, and other inspection tools.
- Strong attention to detail with a consistent commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Physical ability to lift materials and stand for extended periods during the shift.
- Basic computer skills for operating equipment interfaces and entering production data.
- Mechanical aptitude for understanding machine functions and performing minor adjustments.
- Experience specifically operating laser cutting machinery in a manufacturing environment.
- Familiarity with CNC equipment and related production processes.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately in a fast-paced production setting.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to respond quickly to equipment or quality issues.
- Reliability and a strong work ethic, with a focus on meeting production goals safely and efficiently.

Work EnvironmentThis position is based in a manufacturing facility with CNC laser cutting equipment and related production machinery. The role involves standing for extended periods, lifting materials, and working around active equipment in a fast-paced setting. Team members follow established safety and quality procedures, maintain a clean and organized workspace, and use basic computer interfaces and measuring tools as part of daily operations. Appropriate work attire is required to support safety and comfort in an industrial environment.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Indianapolis, IN.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $22.00 - $25.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
