Job Description
The EHS Coordinator promotes a strong safety culture by leading daily safety activities, conducting inspections, and ensuring all work is planned and executed in accordance with environmental, health, and safety standards on construction sites. This role focuses on proactive hazard identification, risk mitigation, and compliance with safety procedures and documentation requirements.
Responsibilities- Lead the safety portion of the daily huddle to communicate key hazards, controls, and safety expectations to the workforce.
- Confirm that the daily Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) has been completed and is accurate for all planned tasks.
- Support drafting and updating JHAs to ensure all hazards and mitigation measures are clearly identified and addressed.
- Complete SAFER Walk and SIFp inspections in BOLT to identify potential serious injury and fatality exposures and document corrective actions.
- Remain present and attentive during high-risk operations, including hazardous energy control, working at height and rigging activities, mobile and heavy equipment operations, and hot work.
- Walk the fence line and surrounding areas to verify site security, safe access, and proper boundary controls.
- Walk the work area regularly to verify that all tasks are covered by an appropriate JHA and that controls are implemented in the field.
- Perform and document equipment and safety inspections, including PIT (powered industrial trucks), MEWP (mobile elevating work platforms), fall protection equipment, and other relevant tools and systems.
- Complete the Daily Safety Report in Autodesk, ensuring accurate and timely documentation of site safety conditions and activities.
- Conduct weekly Toolbox Talks to reinforce safety topics, lessons learned, and project-specific hazards with workers.
- Complete weekly Site Safety Inspections in Autodesk Forma, documenting findings and tracking corrective actions.
- Provide safety orientation for new workers, including reviewing the Aegis Site Safety Orientation and Project JHA with all workers, and maintain signed copies of orientation documents.
- Respond promptly to safety actions and notifications in BOLT, ensuring follow-up and closure of identified issues.
- Report Good Catches, near-miss events, and incidents to promote learning and continuous improvement in safety performance.
- Lead or support incident investigations, analyze root causes, and document findings and recommendations in clear, comprehensive reports.
- Use BOLT and Autodesk Forma platforms as directed, including setting up and maintaining a BOLT account and reviewing project drawings as needed to understand work plans and associated risks.
- Demonstrated experience in environmental, health, and safety (EHS) coordination within construction environments.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and construction safety standards.
- Ability to conduct safety training, toolbox talks, and orientations for diverse groups of workers.
- Proficiency in identifying hazards, developing and reviewing Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), and implementing mitigation measures.
- Experience performing safety inspections of equipment such as powered industrial trucks (PIT), mobile elevating work platforms (MEWP), and fall protection systems.
- Capability to monitor and support high-risk operations, including hazardous energy control, working at height, rigging, mobile and heavy equipment use, and hot work.
- Competence in completing safety documentation and reports using digital platforms such as BOLT and Autodesk.
- Strong communication skills to engage workers, supervisors, and stakeholders on safety expectations and findings.
- Attention to detail and organizational skills for maintaining accurate records, signed orientations, and inspection reports.
- Ability to use a smartphone to access safety applications, communication tools, and project documentation.
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) or a related field plus at least 3 years of full-time construction safety management experience.
- Alternatively, a board-certified safety credential from a nationally recognized organization plus at least 5 years of full-time construction safety management experience.
- Alternatively, current OSHA 500 certification plus at least 6 years of full-time construction safety management experience.
- Familiarity with BOLT and Autodesk Forma or similar safety and project management software platforms.
- Experience conducting incident investigations and preparing detailed written reports.
- Ability to interpret project drawings and plans to anticipate safety risks and support proactive planning.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to identifying and resolving safety issues.
- Commitment to continuous improvement and promoting a positive safety culture on site.
This role is based on large, active construction sites within Amazon facilities. The EHS Coordinator works primarily in the field, moving throughout the site, walking fence lines and work areas, and closely observing ongoing operations. The environment includes exposure to typical construction activities such as mobile and heavy equipment, elevated work, hot work, and material handling. Work is performed in collaboration with site teams and requires regular use of digital tools and applications on smartphones, BOLT, Autodesk, and Autodesk Forma for inspections, reporting, and reviewing project drawings. The position may involve varying weather conditions, noise levels, and the need to navigate uneven surfaces and structures typical of construction sites. Appropriate safety attire and personal protective equipment are required in accordance with site safety policies.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Louisville, KY.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $40.00 - $50.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
