This role oversees complex hardware and system development programs, combining deep electrical engineering expertise with strong project leadership to deliver successful product launches. The Senior Electrical Engineering Project Manager leads cross-functional engineering initiatives from concept through commercialization, with a strong focus on product development risk management, design controls, and execution in regulated environments.

Responsibilities
  • Lead complex, cross-functional hardware and system development programs from initial concept through commercialization.
  • Manage end-to-end product development activities across hardware, firmware, systems, verification, and regulatory workstreams.
  • Drive requirements management processes to ensure clear, traceable, and testable product requirements.
  • Oversee risk management activities, identifying, assessing, and mitigating technical and program risks throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Implement and maintain robust design controls, including design reviews, documentation, and change management.
  • Plan, coordinate, and oversee design verification and validation activities to confirm product performance and compliance.
  • Collaborate with test engineering teams to define test strategies, protocols, and acceptance criteria.
  • Manage supplier relationships and supplier performance to support timely and high-quality design transfer and production ramp-up.
  • Lead multidisciplinary engineering teams, facilitating technical decision-making and resolving complex engineering issues.
  • Develop and manage project schedules, budgets, and resource plans to ensure on-time and on-budget delivery.
  • Communicate project status, risks, and key decisions to executive leadership and stakeholders in a clear and timely manner.
  • Ensure adherence to regulatory and quality requirements typical of industries such as medical devices, robotics, aerospace, and industrial automation.
  • Coordinate design transfer activities to manufacturing, ensuring readiness of processes, documentation, and suppliers.
  • Continuously improve project management and engineering processes using structured methodologies and best practices.
Essential Skills
  • At least 8 years of experience in electrical engineering and product development, including leadership of complex, cross-functional engineering programs.
  • Strong project management skills with a proven ability to plan, execute, and deliver multiple concurrent engineering projects.
  • Deep technical expertise in electrical engineering and hardware system development.
  • Demonstrated experience managing hardware, firmware, systems, verification, and regulatory activities from concept through commercialization.
  • Expertise in requirements management, including definition, documentation, and traceability of engineering requirements.
  • Expertise in risk management, including identification, analysis, mitigation planning, and ongoing monitoring.
  • Strong knowledge of design controls and quality systems applicable to regulated industries.
  • Hands-on experience with verification and validation processes for complex hardware and systems.
  • Experience in supplier management, including technical oversight and coordination of design transfer activities.
  • Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and drive technical decision-making in a collaborative environment.
  • Demonstrated capability to manage schedules, budgets, and resources effectively.
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to present complex technical and program information to executive leadership.
  • Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Electrical Engineering.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Master of Science (M.S.) in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Engineering Management, or MBA is preferred.
  • Background working in regulated industries such as medical devices, robotics, aerospace, or industrial automation.
  • Additional training or certifications in Program Management (such as PMP) are highly desirable.
  • Experience with Agile methodologies applied to engineering and product development is highly desirable.
  • Training or certifications in Lean Six Sigma are highly desirable.
  • Additional education or certifications in Systems Engineering are highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence stakeholders and build consensus across cross-functional teams.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a structured approach to resolving complex technical and program issues.
Work Environment

The role operates in a highly technical, project-driven engineering environment focused on complex hardware and system development in regulated sectors such as medical devices, robotics, aerospace, and industrial automation. Work involves close collaboration with multidisciplinary teams including hardware, firmware, systems, test, regulatory, and supplier partners. The position requires frequent interaction with executive leadership and stakeholders to report progress, discuss risks, and make key decisions. The environment emphasizes structured processes for requirements management, risk management, design controls, verification and validation, and design transfer, with a strong focus on quality and compliance. Work is primarily office-based and meeting-driven, supported by modern engineering tools and documentation systems, with occasional visits to supplier or manufacturing sites as needed to support design transfer and production readiness.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Boston, MA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $60.00 - $76.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
